NIN is pretty good break up stuff. the still album (or somthing like that, my ex burned it for me, so not sure) is great for that, more soft, lulling tracks.

Low was a band that i turned to when i was super depressed. really slow stuff that is melancholic and beautiful. makes you want to become embryonic again....

NIN's album The Fragile has a lot of slower instrumentals in it. It was really different from their older stuff but is just as good to listen to.
