Since Pentecostalism mostly developed from a Methodist/Wesleyan base, there is a lot of overlap.

I don't think it's helpful. My no. 1 result was Quaker... which may be accurate. My no. 2 result was Seventh Day Adventist. Isn't SDA really strict? to be honest, I have no clue what Seventh Day Adventists believe...

my beliefs (i dont follow any mainstream teachings, i dont think... maybe there is a church for me) are basically

you are born as a clean slate, free to do good or evil as you so wish, salvation comes not through prayer but by being a good person overall, having your positive deeds outweigh your negative.

once salvation is achieved, it can also be lost and then again, re-achieved. sometimes it can be so lost it is almost impossible to return to salvation... but if enough good works (and one is truly repentant in their heart of hearts, not just to get into heaven) are done then salvation may be retained.

i believe the bible was metaphorical at best when written and has since been bastardised by all the various translations and modifications made to it so that only a rough guide remains. the spirit that the bible was written in is the only true road to salvation, not through following (sometimes) daft rules that are contradicted.

i dont think direct worship on the lines of "oh god, you are so great, your really fluffling marvelous, i loves ya" is of any relevance, but only through doing good and charitable works can one's soul be redeemed.

i believe that the death sentence as well as corporal punishment (ie wipping, beating, bread+water treatment) is acceptable in extreme cases (you take a life intentionally, you forfeit your right to your own life. and i emphasise intentionally, manslaughter is not punishable by death but by re-education).

does that make me mormon?

It keeps saying Anglican and I can't make it stop. I'm Lutheran LCMS (which is #2). I wish there was a cheat-sheet to show the "correct" selections for each denomination. It might be interesting to discuss the criteria.

Apparently I should re-think my estimation of the accuracy of this test. When it scored me as an Anglican I thought it was quite good since I am an Anglican and most other tests of this sort don't score me correctly.

But it now appears that it's pretty easy for ANYONE to be labelled an Anglican by this test.

Even those for whom "Anglican" was not the #1 answer had it somewhere near the top of their list. BTW, I thought for a moment that this owed to Anglicans being more diverse than some other faiths are, but when I read the list generated by answering "not sure" across the board, this didn't hold up as a theory. Jehovah's Witnesses certainly shouldn't be toward the top of that list or Quakers near the bottom near the SDA and below Mormons.

The church i've been trying to go to on a regular basis.. well, i have no idea what it is.

I did it again. I may have shifted a little on some issues, and I think I know better how to weight my answers.

1. Anglican

Yes, I could easily be Anglican. If so, I'd be "Broad Church" and charismatic.

2. Methodist (Wesleyan)
Maybe. There is a definite Methodist/Wesleyan slant to some of my thinking. I'm not totally clear on the difference between Wesleyan and UMC, except that Wesleyan is generally more conservative... maybe too conservative.

3. Baptist
Possibly, but there are a gazillion different flavors of Baptist. Probably most any Protestant could be some kind of Baptist.

4. Methodist (United Methodist Church)
Likely, but see my Methodist (Wesleyan) comments.

5. Lutheran (LCMS)
On general theology, yes, but they practice closed communion and don't ordain women, both deal breakers for me.

6. Pentecostal
My actual church membership is Pentecostal, specifically Assemblies of God. My particular congregation seems more liberal than average for AG, and emergent-friendly, both of which suit me. It doesn't satisfy my fondness for liturgy, but I'm pretty happy with it.

7. Lutheran (ELCA)
Yes, a definite possibility.

8. Presbyterian (USA)
Could be, except that they officially support gun control, and as a shooter and former gun rights activist, that's unacceptable to me.

9. Seventh Day Adventist
No, Adventists annoy me with their legalism. I've had Adventist friends, but I couldn't stand to go to church with them.

10. Quaker
Possible, though I'm pretty conservative for a Quaker.

11. Catholic
I agree on some theology, but overall, no. I don't buy papal authority. Old Catholic (Utrecht) fixes all the big issues I have with Catholicism, so it could work very well for me, and that's my current icon. Actual membership isn't possible though, there being no Utrecht-affiliated churches in the USA, let alone my region.

12. Presbyterian (AUS)
What's this, Australian Presbyterians? I know nothing about them.

13. Orthodox
Remote possibility. I do agree them with on some important bits of theology. But overall, they're far too socially conservative and traditional.

14. Jehovah's Witness
No. Cult with bizarre theology.

15. Mormonism
No. Cult with bizarre theology.
