While I am what's considered "moderate", I don't even think candidates have to be "moderates" on every issue to make major improvements.

They just need to be inside the Overton Window on certain social issues.

I think there's room for "non-moderation" on certain policies regarding spending, military policy, etc...

However, these cultural/social issues seem to have a way of dividing people in ways that other issues don't. Specifically, I think, because some of these cultural issues hit a little "closer to home" for some people.
How does the Overton Window work? Yeah, there are things that could be less moderate compared to others, but overall, being purple instead of red or blue could help solve some of the partisan divides.

But like I noted before, there were Democratic candidates and politicians attending fundraisers in honor of the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" (a Drag Nun group)... you wouldn't think there'd be much upside in that either given how large the catholic population is in the US.
Yes. No one in the Democratic party is partial to the LGBTQ vote.

Same here, though it looks unlikely that the Democrats or Republicans in office would become less extreme.
I think you're right, sadly.

There are the Log Cabin Republicans, but I don't know how credible the LGBT people find them anymore.

I think many view them as credible, but deluded.
Ok. Reminds me of some....for a lack of a better word, closeted Republicans.
