I saw an antique bathtub in a valley and inside was a horse laying on its side. It's legs had been cut off at the body. The head was near the neck but was obviously cut off. Strangely, the animal still breathed and the eyes were still blinking.

Here's what comes immediately to mind.

"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; 8 we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So death works in us, but life in you." (2 Corinthians 4:7-12, NASB)

The imagery, in my opinion, suggests persecution against the church -- which can never be killed. The horse cannot help but keep breathing, because it comes from God, even though ten thousand were to rise up against it --- yet it will prevail. This also brings to mind yet one more passage.

And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:17-19, NASB)

PS. The word that Jesus used for Peter (Petros, small stone) and rock (Petra, large rock) and not in fact the same Greek word. When Jesus said, "upon this rock I will build My church", it is the confession of Christ that is the "rock" (Petra, large rock).

In short, I believe this dream is about persecution, spiritual warfare, and about the prevailing church.

Christians, please pray. There is no time like now to be prevailing and petitioning our Father for lost souls.

Today I drove past a truck with several toy horse heads propped up along the back. In my rear view mirror I could see that they were hobby horses -- wooden sticks with horse's heads. It was bizarre and cute, but also numbing to see full horse heads with no bodies.

I have been feeling like the church has already headed in a direction, where people will see the semblance of Christianity in church structures, and the more aware/alert Christians will need to go elsewhere to carry out and represent the work of God.

Your dream has a similar message to it -- that something once strong and running was struck down, but not destroyable. (And replaced with stuffed toy horse heads.)
I want to be careful that I don't drive people out of churches on the suspicion it could happen, but to me it looks like it started rolling in the last 3-5 years.

Amen.

I was in a conversation today, on how we can plan for a transition that may come in churches. If we do not feel comfortable standing behind what is done in so many, then will we already have home groups and neighborhood coffee houses in place? Will new believers and inquirers know where to go for real help and information on God? That is a task some of us might need to take on now.

The horse is a symbol of strength, especially in the Old Testament, while the bathtub is where one would expect cleansing – that is, sanctification.

What I receive from this is a picture of an old place of cleansing, that rather than what one would expect to happen there, had instead became a place of dismemberment. The severed legs emphasize mobility and, once again, strength, and the decapitation signifies that the body is cut off from its head.

The horse would be a metaphor for the Body. The dismemberment refers to saints that are not joined to the Body as they ought, and the severed head is Christ. As has been said here, spiritual death no longer has a hold on us, but still, the struggle to overcome in the natural is very real, and it is all too possible to go through life without achieving the fruitfulness the Lord intends for us. Establishing the kingdom is not automatic; it has opposition and must be seized "by violence".

The antique bathtub seems to refer to a moribund church driven by traditions of men, that is not placing the saints into the positions they are called to. By the church structure not submitting to the will of the Spirit, the Body loses contact with the Savior, and thus, its effectiveness.

Perhaps it is an expression of you feeling powerless in a low point in your life. Yet, in spite of that feeling of utter weakness, there is some hope.

When I saw the title of this thread, it reminded me of a similar dream I had a while back, http://www.christianforums.com/t7617809/. I guess this one stumped everyone, since there were no replies. What's going on with all the decapitated horses?

judgement begins first in the HOUSE OF GOD. that is the thought I had about your dream . Thanks for posting. Interesting that we are both 42.
