  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Anyone find themselves in a quandry here at CF that it stirred up so much debate, like started a thread on a topic or got into a heated debate?

The first thread I ever posted got closed down, wish it wouldn't have because there was some good advice in there. Any advice you have to share with me on what not to post?

Debates. I'm fine as long as it doesn't concern things like Politics or Abuse of kids. 2 subjects I just go postal on.

Thats why people use those topics to pull at emotional strings, our country has not tolerated abuse of kids since ... like 1900 and even before that it was only in cases relating to slavery but people still manage to use kids as pawns for their gain. People buy it because its for the kids even if the alteriour motive is wrecking society.

Politics is another venue where people with nafaroius motives use nobel causes to their own ends. As soon as I hear "its for the children" I am carefully watching for someone reaching into my wallet.

Our society is steeped in graft and corruption, everyone wants easy street and feels entitled to other peoples resources. It is at the root of the conflict in this nation and why heated arguments are the norm on the radio, TV forums, etc.

I remember at my old chruch the pastor was squeezing his hand and saying most people grasp their money and say "its mine", I thought yea it is mine, I dont see my name on the title to the building we were sitting in so I thought they should tone it down, because last time I checked he was not there enduring the pain of a 4 year STEM degree or fighting tooth and nail for my first job, but now that I get some fruit out of my labor they all seem to come out of the wood work.

If the thread got closed (I wouldn't know), but to me it seems like it would have been more of an immature back and forth than a heated debate.

My advice for a good debate is to deeply scan/think their fallacies (If you were in a debate with me your easiest find would be a fallacy of logic) and then finish with a witty comeback.
