• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dear creationists...

There should be a similar greeting for passover:

It hasn't risen!
It's not leavened at all!

It hasn't risen because it's pure--no contamination with "sin"--yeast.

It's not leavened because somebody knows enough not to try to symbolize the pure Son of God with ridiculous yeast bread (there are churches that do that.)

Don't tell me you don't have a sense of humor. :)

No, you specifically said Creationists used polluting practices. Just what would those be?

The "polluting practices" was a reference to the oil companies that were using lead as an additive.

Though creationists very often merit harsh criticism that was not aimed at them.

You are being too sensitive. That could be indicative of guilt on your part. Or at the very least knowledge that creationists use harmful practices when debating evolution.

I don't know first of all of any creationist oil companies...

I have no guilt so try again?

No, no it is a real lack of understanding on what in the world you are claiming.:o

Okay, there was no dig at creationists. The polluters were the oil companies. Not creationists, and definitely not "creationist oil companies".

Once again AV seems to care only about creationists. The end of lead additives to gasoline helped everyone, including creationists.

And I apologize for getting a bit testy. I have dealt too often with dishonest creationists lately and I would not include you in that camp.

Believe me I know how frustrating these threads can be, but I am still at a loss as to what you meant by what you were saying.

I don't know how creationists are involved at all. Thank you for allowing that I am not dishonest.

I too haven't a clue as to what he's on about.

Something about I only caring about creationists.

Whatever ... I just chalk it up to yet another false accusation.

I don't either.
I can almost predict that those who join here and put basically zilch in their profile are going to lambaste us for our beliefs.

I once got fed up with one poster going on and on trying to shove science down my throat, then I came back and challenged him on his sacraments* and how he justified his consubstantiation over transubstantiation, and that put an end to it.

Most of these guys virtually step on -- of all things -- their own sacraments to challenge us to step into the science arena with them.

It's no wonder they ridicule the Bible ... they've been ridiculing their sacraments for years.

Of course, when you get someone whose profile basically just says:

"I'm a single/married [insert denomination here]" ... what can you expect in the way of a decent conversation?

I'm not ashamed to put what I believe right up in the storefront window for all to see.

* We don't have sacraments ourselves; we have ordinances.

Just like the Bible?
The Bible is different.

Anyone who thinks Wikipedia is on a par with the Bible has rocks in their head (or rock strata on the brain).

I'll agree with you on that one, for the most part, but not necessarily in favor of either the bible or Wikipedia.
