  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dealing with perfectionism in an imperfect world?

To wrap it up how do i live with this issue of not being able to escape future stumbling blocks and battling perfectionism while at the same time not abusing grace? Thanks.
You can't, unless God is your Father.
And if God is your Father
you would be doing it.

Not asking,
how to do it.

If God was your Father
Not only would you be able to escape all stumbling blocks
and overcome all imperfections of this world and your own,
but you would even cease from ever polluting and defiling
the mercy and grace of God.

That is just the nature of God being your Father.

I have this problem in my life that I've always had since becoming a christian years ago now. It's perfectionism/legalism. Just recently though I have been dealing with an issue at work thats led me to make this post because i just more than anything want some advice and input from people on how to fix this issue. I keep committing what I perceive to be willful sin not even because I want to but because it seems as though it's the only way to get through my job. It all has to do with training thats required for the job. I try to actually do the training properly but this issue is in order to do it properly it places what I perceive to be a huge burden on me. It's actually over something probably most people would perceive to be silly but my mind grapples onto it and it gives me anxiety and guilt from feeling like I'm committing sin. It all has to do with acknowledgements for terms and conditions and stuff. Again i know it's silly but it's just gets to me.
Do you believe your job is requiring that you lie or something of that sort?

If whatever it is would be viewed as sin by most people were it not part of the job, you may have a problem with that job.

Daniel, and Joseph both had jobs for pagan nations in roles of high leadership, yet did not violate their conscience in what they were doing. In other words, they did not take responsibility for what others in their job were doing, just what they themselves did.

If you are in a practical situation where you are under pressure to do what is wrong > Jesus Christ is the Lord of all. Jesus is able to make you creative for handling any situation. He will have you doing what is good and this will fit in with all else that He is managing for good . . . of loving.

So, trust Jesus to do this with you, and pray this for all of us. We all need this and pray this for one another.

"'Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'" (Matthew 11:29)

Jesus always could do what is good, right while evil people did not want Him to.

In my experience, it helps me to not trust any feelings and thinking which are not in God's peace > just don't trust that stuff, and depend on God to * get * rid * of * it *. God is almighty to easily and breezily and beautifully get rid of any nasty negative naughty cruel stupid nonsense in our emotions and thinking. And obey God in His peace >

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.:" (Colossians 3:15)

If it is outright lying.. is there a way to work around it? If there is not, you have to tell them it goes against your faith. Then I would ask for another way around it or if someone else could.
Regarding perfectionism/legalism, know that Jesus did not do legalism it was the pharisees. to him it is good enough if we do our best. That goes for personal errors too. Perfectionism is an illusion. it truly is. because noone is, and this world is not either. it is a lie, often taught very early as a form of belief or programming. often punished hard if we were not "perfect" when they had the same issue. we have to work release and heal that .Remind ourselves how God sees us ,as good enough, all that matters is if we do our best. and when the thoughts come, remind ourselves.

Mo Isom Aiken

Hi, I was watching this video and thought of your situation, particularly in the part where Mo Isom Aiken, the speaker, talks about becoming a leader in your circumstances. Perhaps it may be that God is asking you to take a role of leadership in this situation. What do you think that would look like?
