Frustration, anger, bitterness, and similar, are all the fruit of the sinful nature, in us. And because they are the fruit of the sinful nature in us, therefore, when we let them control us, we sin.
That is why, the fruit of the Holy Spirit in us, the fruit of patience and self control, helps us to be more patients, and to control the impulses of our sinful nature, by the power of the Holy Spirit in us - Galatians chapter 5.
Also, according to science, there are two parts of the human brain. One is the logical part, and the other is the emotional part.
What happens is that our emotional part of the brain, gets all the information from the outside world first, before even that information reaches our logical part. So when we actually respond to our environment around us first with our feelings, and latter on, our logical part of the brain, starts to analyse things. We first feel before we think. That is called 'emotional hijacking' or 'amigdala hijacking' in scientific terms.
When we are in stress or danger, our emotional part of the brain reacts first, before our logical part of the brain reacts. Our emotional part of the brain, called 'amigdala' causes our body to get into fight or flight mode, by making the body to release adrenaline and other hormones. Our emotional part of the brain acts in 'survival' mode, trying to protects us, so it makes us angry, ready to fight, or flight.
The thing is, our emotional part of the brain, somehow 'highjacks' and takes over our logical part of the brain, so that we are overhelmed by emotions and we can not think straight. Our emotional part of the brain, somehow blocks our thinking for awhile, so that we act entirely emotionally.
There is a part of psychology called 'emotional intelligence', which deals with these things.
