  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Unless she was talking about the film...

No. As clarified in my post, and as he clarified, she was talking about the Holocaust. Apparently to her, six million Jews and an additional four million "unwanted" individuals just disappeared off the face of Europe.

Quite frankly, that'd be a deal breaker for me as well. :p

Bad taste in music. I can understand having some guilty pleasures (I have seemingly, undying, infinite amounts of love for the Spice Girls, Britney and Rod Stewart) but an eternity of marriage is too long if the person will be playing (really bad) trance and techno on the car radio all the time.

Edit: And I make like ZERO of Leo's list. I just saw that and was eliminadore-d from the get-go.
Thanks for taking the imaginary wind out of my imaginary sails in an imaginary way. :p

LOL, Broken, you can't possibly have ALL of those attributes!
I was joking, but let's run through these with what other people say/think about me in bolded italics and what is actually true (or what is drilled in my head to be true, but may not be) in bold.

Indeed. Even if one could put up with it in their partner, it would make for some awkward dinner conversations. Having come from a family where my mom's side were all Democrats and my dad's side all Republicans, I know how that can get. :p

LOL yes. another reason why I don't date men who are serious about politics (or well so serious to the point of mixing faith with politics). I can handle it to a point, but esp nowadays its just a huge headache waiting to happen.

My dad worked at the Pentagon the day it was hit (he survived, thank God). I spent much of the day not knowing if he was alive or dead, so it's kind of personal for me :p

I remember an old coworker of mine, who was Jewish, told me he took a girlfriend to see Schindler's List. After the movie she said, "I don't think that [the Holocaust] really happened." He ended the relationship right there.

Wow.

Well, too this day I still get the Genocide never happened, so why "wow" I don't know.

What I want to know is, if George Bush can pull off a massive hoax involving the intentional murder of 2500 of his own citizens to boost his oil buddies, and hide it from all but the most discerning of individuals, why he let his approval rating fall to 29%. I guess he wasn't thinking straight, huh? Didn't realize that remaining popular would allow more crypto-Nazi Republicans to assume power and further boost his oil buddies? Or decided that, you know, all that murderous tyranny stuff was OK for 2001 but for 2008 things had to be on the level?

The illusion that many people who live in democracies are under is that the president of said country is ultimately in control. It's an illusion that is fostered for the sake of diversion. It lets the people think they have the power at the ballot box, by "voting the rascals out". The real powers are not in elected officials, however. It should be stated here that the USA was originally founded as a *Republic* and the that founders largely scorned *Democracy*. The two terms are not synonymous.

Carol Quigley, in his book "Tragedy and Hope", addressed the illusion:

"The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers..."

"...Instead, the two parties should remain almost identical, so that the American people can 'throw the rascals out' at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy"

YouTube - ‪Carroll Quigley: Our Tragedy and Their Hope‬‎

If you really want to be informed on what is going on, I'd suggest two books as a primer:

A) The Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin

and

B) How the World Really Works by Alan B. Jones

Edit: Have you ever read the now unclassified document "Operation Northwoods" - a plan by the US government to fake terrorist attacks against the USA in an attempt to garner support for the invasion of Cuba? As Noem Chomsky has stated in one of his books, many such classified documents are classified with the intent of hiding the truth from the American people, and not from any real concern for national security.

Is this the "conspiracy theorists" thread?

Didn't think so.

*smile* Such hypocrisy. Anyone who believes Osama Bin Laden and a few members of his group from a rag tag country were able to circumvent the whole of the entire US intelligence and military apparatus to perpretrate this act is a conspiratist...and I might add...a little naive. The only difference being *who* the conspiracy lies with. The official story doled out to the US public is a conspiracy theory. A conspiracy theory that beggers belief, honestly.

Edit: And, I might add...justifies wars of aggression and MURDER supported by good Jesus loving, Christian folk. I want to gag a thousand times over.

LOL I love the 9/11 and or Holocost side threads going along inside this thread

I do not really have set "deal breakers" more like things that make a relationship less likely
listed in order of how much it would deture me from entering a relationship

not christian is a big one
having a kid is another one
someone who is always negative or hateful
lacking a sense of humor

not taking the christian faith seriously (cultural christians only)
being a drug addict (but not really a problem with recreational drug uses, some of my close friends smoke pot or do drugs sometimes, not good but not a big issue with me)
is extreamly obese, I am over weight myself and have been with over weight girls, but there comes a point where a person just looks disgusting, i guess that is more of a personal thing, I probably look disgusting to some people too...

being a Protestant (this is near the end of the list mind you)
being SUPER liberal, libertarian or republican or democrat is fine, but if you are like super liberal that would probably be a problem
