• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Throw out the ashtrays....
Throw out EVERYTHING that has anything to do with smoking...The only ashtray we kept was an ornamental one that is NOT used and never was as an ashtray that I had given to me for a bday gift...Precious moments...Throw out everything to do with Smoking...get rid of it all.
You'll soon find people who smoke stink and you'll gag when you get a whiff of them...;)

I seem to have run into some problems with my patches today. They're starting to make me feel sick so I ended up taking it off. I tried to put one on again later and again I began to feel sick. So, I removed that one as well and I've been on my own for the past few hours. God willing I'll be ok. ~Cringes just a bit~

Hubs patches made him feel sick...
He tore them off and did without after the third day...

Chewed alot of cinnamon gum...

I chewed alot of cinnamon gum and sucked on cinnamon sticks in replacement of cigarettes as they have a hole in so Id pretend they were cigarettes...only I was getting air...fresh air...and I could "smoke" them anywhere LOL....(Another person I know sucked on the outter part of a pen in replacement)...I prefered the cinnamon stick as I could chew on it when it got soggy where as plastic doesnt do too much for me ;)

Maybe ask your doctor about Zyban or Wellbutrin also...can help with the moods :)

Are you an ex-smoker? And by the way...thank you. :)

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, haven't had my computer on all weekend.

Yes, I am an ex-smoker. I quit once around 15 years ago for a few - I think 6 months or so, I can't remember - I started back in a moment of weakness - I stopped for a few beers after work........ That was before I was Saved, now I don't 'drink' so that won't be a problem!!

11/18/06 was my one year anniversary, once in a while I want one but it passes quickly - Now I'm to the point that I don't want to go through it again, this time was a little tougher for me than the first time so that is motivation.

Hang in, it gets better!! Everyday it gets easier.

I can't take the meds with the anti-depressants in them because of a disorder I have. I suck a lot of lollipops throughout the day. ~Laughs~

I think what the problem was yesterday was I tried to put one on my arm and it wasn't sticking so I took it off and put a new one on somewhere else. I have one on this morning. If it makes me nauseated I'll just have to remove it and manage on my own. I spent most of the day yesterday without one and I did ok so, I might be alright. We'll see how it goes. :)

This is day 8 and I don't want to do anything to mess this up. This is the longest I've been without a cigarette ever. Yesterday I truly believe God was helping. Makes me thankful I got saved. :)

Day 9

Still doing well. I've had a few urges to run to the quick shop and buy some smokes but, I just shoved another sucker in my mouth and managed to get through it. I've been getting through them without having to snap my wrist with the rubber band so, that must be progress.

Kawliga how ya doin??
