  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

this is a lovely verse...
"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." ~Psalm 139:23-24

1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom;
listen carefully to my wise counsel.

Proverbs 5:

Listen up.

"My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge." ~Proverbs 5:1-2

Proverbs 5:

This bears repeating. It's something to ponder on, and be thankful for. Just like a sheep, i have a tendency to wander. And the GOOD thing, is that i have a GOOD Shepherd, Who is "watching" me and "nudges" me to guide me back to the right path. In THAT, i can "rest", as i trust in Him, to always watch me, and guide me, and to "nudge" me back on the right path.

The following stands out to me

V1
My son, pay attention to my wisdom;
listen carefully to my wise counsel.
2 Then you will show discernment,
and your lips will express what you’ve learned.

21
The ·Lord sees everything you do [L eyes of the Lord are on the path of every person],
and he watches ·where you go [L all their ways].
22 An evil man will be ·caught [captured] in his wicked ways;
the ropes of his sins will tie him up.
23 He will die ·because he does not control himself [L without discipline/instruction],
and he will be ·held captive [or intoxicated; inebriated] by his ·foolishness [stupidity].

I like the warning about the adulterous woman, and the contrast to "the wife of thy youth". The adulteress seems sweet on the surface (but superficial, as her lips and mouth are described). In the end, she is bitter and poison. When the wife is described, her breasts are described, indicating greater intimacy and even nourishment, and the end is being ravished with her love.

Also, there's a tendency today to demonize a man's natural appreciation for the aesthetic beauty of a woman. This passage describes how when properly channeled (i.e. the satisfaction of a man with his wife), this inbuilt appreciation is healthy and good.

Proverbs 5:3-4 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

Proverbs 5:18-19 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

Proverbs 5:1-2 AMP
"My son, be attentive to my wisdom [godly wisdom learned by costly experience],
Incline your ear to my understanding;
That you may exercise discrimination and discretion (good judgment),
And your lips may reserve knowledge and answer wisely [to temptation]."
