Proverbs 30:
Real Courage.
"The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted." ~Pr 29:25
Fearlessness is not possible when we "fear man". It is cowardly to do so. It's the equivalent to bowing down before Satan and his "agents" (Satan uses "man" as his "agents"). We are akin to king Saul and his entire army shaking in their boots and hiding from Goliath, the big ol' bully giant, who was surely Satan's "agent". And in quaking in their boots, the king and his army were, in essence, "bowing down" and "worshiping" Satan and his "agent", Goliath. They were in a "prison" of "fear". And they surely had chains on in this prison. They had already DECLARED "who" was the mightiest, and that would be a declaration that Satan and his "agent", Goliath, was. How insulting to the God of Israel. THIS is what outraged David.
Thus King Saul and his entire army were a disgrace, and disgraced not only ISRAEL, but also the GOD of Israel.
Only David, a mere boy, was "fearless" here. And that is because he "feared God". He disdained evil and all that represented evil. This was only possible because he feared God. When evil attempts to dare to step into what is GOD'S, and thus attempts to "trespass", we, like David, become outraged that ANYTHING, including Satan himself would DARE to declare something that they have no right to. And that would be that ANYONE is to bow down to them and to in essence, "worship" them. This includes Goliath and what was behind Goliath, and that would be Satan.
The bottom line here, is that king Saul had NO "fear of God", and neither did his entire army. They had become "slaves" to Satan and his "agent", Goliath, and their declaration of whom they "feared" and thus "worshiped", was in their 'fear" of them.
David demonstrated someone who "fears God". He was, as it were, a "lion" and backed down from no one and nothing.
There is a "lion" in us, so to speak, and it is generated from the "fear of the Lord".
