Proverbs 16:
Why plans succeed.

"Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." ~Ps 37:4

God will SURELY bring our plans to fruition when the are rooted in pleasing God and putting HIM first. And that is because it is HIS will that we seek above and beyond ANYTHING else. When our hearts and minds are lined up with God's, and the bottom line is that we have bowed our "will" to GOD'S, it is an indication that we "fear" God and bow all things and laid ALL THINGS before Him, and thus our heart has been transformed as we honor Him in ALL THINGS, and we love Him with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength, and therefore, DELIGHT in Him, just as David did. THAT is why God Himself called David a "man after His own heart", and the "apple of His eye".

Plans succeed because the "plans" are not worshiped or held ABOVE God, or coveted. It is God, and pleasing HIM that is the bottom line, and honoring and blessing His very soul and heart, and DELIGHTING in Him and His Word, and therefore HIS "will", for we have laid our wills before Him, and have buried them.

THESE plans "succeed":

"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." ~Ps 37:5

In doing the above, we do this:

"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." ~Deut 6:5

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." ~Matt 22:37

"By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil" (Pro 16:6 KJV).

God has given us His Word! Titus tells us that our God "cannot lie," so we can depend on whatever He tells us, and in this case, Titus adds to the believer's hope (which is assured faith, not wishful thinking).

"But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Tit 3:4-5 KJV).

And, because we are saved and have an unique relationship with the Father, we are filled with a deep respect and awe (fear) of His holiness, so that we would not dream of offending Him . . . though we do.

"Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity" (2Ti 2:19 KJV).

Lord, help us to love you even more than we do now. Let that love grow daily, and let our love teach us to avoid those things which offend you. We choose to keep these words in our Lord's prayer, "Lead us not into temptation!" Despite what the religious leader says. Amen!

Amen.....the "fear of the Lord" is what prompts us to even pray that God protect us from temptation.

Praying in agreement. God bless you Brother Virgil.

What does the Pope know anyway? I remember in the 60's when they changed the mass from Latin to English and the huge exodus that followed. That was responsible for filling the pews of a lot of Bible-preaching churches. Now they have a rank socialist leading the Romanist church and he is changing the Bible, changing the gospel, and saying that even atheists are now saved - and where is the outrage? Where is the exodus?

Proverbs 16:

Peace.
candle_with_flame.jpg8cb2de8a-6cfe-4bad-bd6f-0461bb4b4a53Small.jpg

God's peace will bless and "pursue" His own. When God's own, interact with others, even with their enemies, and even disagree, there is still peace, and no unnecessary, unwarranted resentment, grudges, or ill-will. And this is because God's own will be speaking the truth, and it is clear that they are, without malice or underhandedness or ill-will, but it is understood that what was said MUST be said because it is the truth. And even those who are one's enemies are compelled to agree that it IS the TRUTH, and in that regard, agree, and even respect what was said because it was done with pure, un-muddied motives. There was no guile or one-up-man-ship, or "debating" to "best" the other. It was simply TRUTH.

The TRUTH spoken shone clearly, and thus it was a blessing. And even one's enemies recognize that it was.

And there is peace, even with one's enemies.

"Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend." ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Proverbs 16:

Pride.
AKA: Self-destruction.

From the very beginning, pride has been the antithesis to "life". It is literally, the very "death" of us. Always has been.

Why did Eve want to "be as God"? It was because of pride. What was Lucifer's (re-named Satan) sin? It was pride. He wanted to what? He wanted to be "as God". Is there a pattern here?

And what IS pride, exactly? It's the wanting to literally be "as God" and/or be our own "little god".

Pride is, bottom line, opposition to the living God. It is the very "root" of opposing God.

And it is the very thing that must "die".

We can NOT bow down before the living God AND bow down to our own selves.

It is one or the other.

Not both.

Amen?

Proverbs 16:

Our Own Path.

When we stubbornly deny the sovereignty of God and do not take heed to His warnings, and "choose our own way", we, as it were, "invite death and destruction" to play havoc with our lives. God KNOWS that any path that He has not ordained for us is, in its finality, leading straight to the very death of us, whether it is sooner or later, it surely will. Wisdom "pleads" to us to step OFF of that deadly path, and to set our feet on the path that leads to blessings and favor, and LIFE. ETERNAL LIFE.

The enemy "celebrates" when we do not pay heed, and continue along this destructive path, and he will surely have placed all KINDS of "surprises" along the way, and the kind that obliterate and destroy not only our lives, but others as well.

The enemy finds it "entertaining" and surely must be eating that popcorn, and enjoying the "show".

I prefer NOT to be his source of "entertainment", heading for sure destruction and utter devastation.

What about you?

Proverbs 16:

Sweet As Honey.

Genuinely encouraging words ARE healing, and as "sweet as honey" to a weary heart, mind, soul, and spirit.

Let our words be directed by our gracious God, Whose timing is perfect, and medicinal and healing to those needing to hear them.

Amen?

Proverbs 16:

Watch out.

God warns us in His Word that PRIDE and the ACCOMPANYING HAUGHTINESS of HEART, will surely cause us to fall. It is as if we dig our own "holes" to fall into when we harbor pride and haughtiness.

How not only "shaming" and "humiliating" that is, but ohhhh-so-tragic.

Perhaps we should heed God's warning.

Amen?

This verse stuck out at me
3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
We all make plans but we sometimes forget to ask God what our ideal plan should be.

I agree. And in some cases, what you originally wanted to do, is stolen away from you by Him, for he has something better for you. Certainly is the case for me. <3

Proverbs 16:

The Last Word.

In spite of all that we see un-folding all around us via the news, and all the media, and sound bites of news on the radio, etc., God STILL is in control.

All may seem hopeless and lost, as events indicate the ever-darkening of this world, but God is still God. He grants us PEACE in spite of what we hear on the news (and listening to/watching the news is a horrific thing to do to ourselves before going to sleep....talk about robbing us of sleep or even insomnia issues...this is NOT what we wanna do before sleep).

It is comforting to be reminded that God IS in control, and that He DOES give His beloved sleep. However HE NEVER promised us this sleep if we're gonna watch a bunch o' bad news and catastrophe's and then think we're gonna actually sleep after THAT. Adrenaline is not a "sleep-inducing" thing. It will surely keep our eyes OPEN, as we toss and turn, as elusive sleep escapes us.

This is a BLESSING of a reminder AND a promise that is timely for me:

"Man may make plans, but the Lord has the final word." ~Pr 16:1
