Anyone else out there into Israeli Folk dance or Davidic dance?

I'm having major trouble finding an economical place to rent for the Purim festival because we will be dancing. Many Churches will not even run it by the board.

I guess I'm a bit quizical after having seen the types of teen activities they allow at thier facility and the lack of dress codes and all.

Anyone who feel so lead please pray for us.

I can't see the picture.

On our hanukkah party it was great, we had jewish folk dances from around the world. I think there was middle east, north africa, hispanic/sephardic, russian, 1960's america. I can't remember the rest but it was lot of fun :D

Bananna Try the Vineyards and Calvery Chapels and go to Road to Jerusalem and ask them for churches in your area as many are very open and want to learn......also about the modesty thing...just have a note on your flyer that reads something like this:

Many have asked what should I wear to Purim? Costumes Costumes Costumes.... YET No revealing clothing -make sure every body part that starts with a "B" is well covered^_^)

Actually we say at least knee lenth and no sleeveless dresses or tops and yes there will be a dress code. The thing is that some of these churches that turn up thier noses at the "dancing" have no dress code for their youth and the games are a bit, questionable. Formal folk dance training IMO is much more modest and fun.

I guess I'm just partial huh?

Hi Bananna, well you could say I don't even go into churches anymore because well it's a personal decision but here's somewhat of the explanation:

So when the Rabbi told me I could convert and still attend church with my husband to keep unity in the family... he was giving me the Reform version?

Our dance will be in a gym most likely. We wer meeting in the commons of another church facility.

ouch - according to that link Islamist worship is not idolatry but the worship of the one true G-d?? It is unfathomable that any religious Jewish person would think so - but then I don't really know the background of the persons who answer the "askmoses" questions.... and hope that person who answered this question does not represent even a minuscule section of the religious Jewish community

no, it did not say to worship. it said if you can enter in a place where others worship.

You could say so. No one at our synagogue has told me to go to the mosque to keep the peace with my husband yet we still find a way to keep the peace.

ah, but the REASON you can enter is because
askmoses said:
Entering a mosque does not pose a problem, since Islam is based on a belief in the one-and-only G-d. (quoted from the askmoses site, but emphasis added by Henaynei)
but can't enter a church because of the trinitarian doctrine even though they also recognize that in Christian worship "belief in the omnipotent G-d is still present."

my point being that askmoses is saying that worship of the moon deity allah is worship of the One and Only G-d.

this is false and an abomination   :(

Will be praying - I did have a copy of dance etiquette that came from MDI, can't seem to find it at the moment. It is very useful and I have used at conferences and workshops that I have put on. Will send you a copy if you like :)

well the early messianic jews who carried the torah and spoke aramaic called G-d Allaha, Eloah in Hebrew, so if muslims are calling G-d, G-d even if the faith is not pure or perfect, it's enough for me. At least they don't follow the trinity which is present in hinduism and mithraism.
