Oops sorry, that song always gets me pumped

You know it was a true story, right?

What I find amazing is that when that song charted in 1970, the band members were all still in high school.

Yeah the most endearing songs tap into real life human experience. I read where he wrote the song when he was 18. Although I could write a lot of songs from my teens not sure if anyone would buy them

He had a drivers licence and his ex gf did not so she kept calling him up for rides.

When the song started getting airplay, she wanted to get back together. They did and have been married about 45 years now.

It has been a crazy and busy 2 weeks.

My mom went peacefully in her sleep. She was age 85 and was a true believer in the Lord her entire life. A close family friend who officiated her funeral said she was the most Christian woman he ever met.

Her funeral was awesome. My best friend officiated it, and in his eulogy he credited her with getting him interested in becoming a pastor. Her gift was teaching. She was a 3rd grade school teacher for decades, and also taught/mentored people in the Lord.

Hanging in there. Some good days, others not so good.

The house had a signed contract in less than 18 hours after being listed, and it was for full asking price.

Still wading thru paperwork. [ugh!]

It was originally my dad and mom's house when it was built in '59. Before that the property belonged to my great grandmother. (so it has been in the family almost a century) After my step dad died in 09, it was just in my mom's name. 2 years ago I had my name put on the title as well to keep my niece from trying to get it for herself and force mom out of the house. So with mom's passing it is in my name only.

Oh wow. That must be hard to give it up. My dad is having to let go of some property that has been in our family since 1910. It had to be sold to pay for nursing home care for his uncle.

Had a hard time getting into work starting on Wednesday. We had a TON of rain and it washed out from under the tracks on the train line I take to work. This is just outside Frederic MD:

Well, the tracks got fixed, my mom's house sold (the closing is today) and my favorite home town winery also got sold. (last summer)

The Upton family (founders of Whirlpool) has owned Tabor Hill since about 1980 when they bought it from founder Len Olson. Last summer the son of a former winemaster bought the winery from the Uptons. He designed a new logo, and I hope it can be kept up to the award winning standards that have made TH what it is today. They celebrate their 50th anniversary this year.

I hope they bring back their most iconic wine - Vidal Blanc Demisec, the first domestic wine from east of the Mississippi river to be served at the White House (Ford administration). The Classic Demisec that replaced it is not quite as good. IMO.
