We seem to know him at least as well as he knows us. :D Of course, that's not saying much. ^_^

Personally, how much have you read from him?
Personally, I've never read anything by him...or even heard of him until I came across this thread. All I've heard was that MP3 on page 1 of this thread. However, I can tell he has zero grasp on Orthodox theology, so I don't really need to read anythihng by him. Although, if you have anything you'd like for me to read, please post a link and I'd be happy to comment on it. I grew up protestant and my entire family and 95% of my friends are, so I don't have anything against protestants. However, this guy clearly has something against the Orthodox and is basing it on hearsay. It sounds like he has no experiential knowledge of it, nor any book knowledge. In a 4 or 5 minute clip, if the best argument you can come up with is derision through cute little catch phrases like "bells and smells" and sports analogies, that doesn't exactly come off as an intellectually sound and defendable position.

Lyle,

Dave may be a great guy in person, but he is well known by knowlegable Catholcs to misrepresent their faith and practice. Do a search for 'A Woman rides the Beast' here at CF, paying particular attention to posts by Wolseley. Wolseley has in fact written a manuscript that will hopefully be published that refutes Daves lie's and propaganda. After listening to his 'facts' on the Liturgy, the History of the Church and the Scriptures I am more convinced than ever that he is not a man to be trusted when he speaks of things pertaining to our Salvation.

Edit: Now that I think of it, Wols is refuting an earlier book that Dave is inspired by. Much of the anti-Catholicism is common between them.

Hi Lyle

I apologize for being flip about Dave Hunt. I can see that you must like him. When I was still a protestant, I'm pretty sure I had a book by him, but even then it was not something that impressed me a lot. Like Oblio says, our point of view is that Mr. Hunt is speaking about us when he knows very little about us, and is not speaking very nicely at that. It makes us sad, and a little bit mad. :sigh:

But like Nicodemus says, if you think there is something valuable we should look at, give us the link, and we'll take a look and talk about it.

James
