  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi,
I'm meeting my long distance significant-other for the first time this summer! I can't wait, we've been talking constantly for a year and now we finally get to meet.

I was wondering if you all had soeme ideas to share on what we could do for a few first dates :). He's staying 2 days and leaving the third..

I live in a small town in Texas, I'm 30 mins from a beach.. and about an hour and a half from Houston, Corpus, and San Antonio.

Please help! I'm so nervous and excited that I can't think straight

I know exactly how you feel. I was about to meet my long distance SO for the first time in three weeks. We have been talking constantly for over five months. I was stumped on what to do also, so unfortunately I do not have any ideas. But I wish you guys the best.:)

neat! we're going through the same thing :). are you still planning on meeting?

Some ideas I have already are a quiet picnic where I make something.. edible. LOL. umm, I thought we could go to a theme park and go on rides and eat corndogs.. and that's all I have. There's plenty to do in two days and it's his first time in TX so I want him to get a good impression.
I'm thinking San Antonio would be great for a day.. seeing the Riverwalk and the Alamo, maybe even a movie.

:D this thread is helping my lay out some thoughts, it's so scary thinking about meeting someone you're so close to for the FIRST time! man oh man..

It is terrifying meeting someone in this type of situation!! All types of emotions are going through me right now, and I am sure you are experiencing the same thing. Unfortunately at the moment I will not be meeting him. I am moving to CA, where he and my family are, in three weeks and we had planned on meeting. He told me last night that he wants to take a break from eachother and hold off on meeting. My family is really going through a very hard time right now and he believes that my focus should be on them, and not him. I know he is right, but I am still disappointed that we won't be meeting as soon as I would like. But it is for the best.

I wish you both the best, and keep me posted on what happens!! :)
