Blake Isle, as it was called. It was the brainchild of Blake Barrington, richest man alive. It was more or less a floating city, mostly scientists and the like, carrying out research for their boss, the billionaire who created the giant seaworthy metropolis as big as New York City. The year was 2042, before an ancient evil was released.

Deep within a top secret laboratory, three doctors, including well-known Dr. Yoshi Mumazi, genetic engineer genius, performed experiments found on two sets of DNA found in Europe. Astonished at what they found, they were authorized by Barrington to proceed with human test subjects. The first, V-23, was created using the first set of virus. He was incredibly strong, and had developed razor sharp fangs, but had a weakness to Ultra Violet Rays. High doses, such as in sunlight, could possibly kill him. The second subject, W-32, was also created, though the subject, unlike "V", as V-23 was called, had no recollection.

When V escaped weeks later, killing all but Yoshi Mumazi, W-32 learned his name was Michael, and was taken under Mumazi's wing, but only after Michael had already done unintentional damage to the society around him, having lost control of himself. He was taught how to use a katana, blessed with holy water from a nearby chapel. Apparently, Yoshi had seen the crisis even before human testing had begun. He had also prepared silver bullets... cases and cases of them, and a revolver. As the years went by, and the death toll rose on the island, Yoshi was close to creating a virus that would kill V and all his "converts". But he was killed, and that research was lost, hidden away in some place only Mumazi knew.

3 years after the escape of V, and now Blake Isle is a ghost city, with only pockets of humans here and there. Vampires and werewolves control most of the city, and there is no escape for anyone. Even though the vampires, under the leadership of V, who retained all his memories, can only come out at night, the werewolves are in a permanent form, having lost their humanity and human form long ago. They run the city streets at all times of the day, usually in packs. Were it not for the constant fighting between the two resurrected races of the Dark Ages, the humans would have been completely wiped out long ago. The Central Propulsion Station is guarded by the humans, and is the only reason the whole of Earth has not been consumed by this ancient plague.

But through all the chaos, some humans, other than the militia on Blake Isle, have chosen to fight the creatures, and find a way to kill them all. They are often referred to as Slayers. And Michael is one of them, using the katana Yoshi gave him, as well as the revolver. But Michael has a secret weapon no one knows about. They don't even know he was ever an experiment. No one judges who someone might have been anymore. They judge them by whether they are human or something else.

((Someone can take control of V, give him a name and history and everything. The basic guideline is that he was a member of Blake's corporate Militia, and a volunteer. Oh, and he's evil. Other characters I would like to have limited to humans, because no other humans were involved in these experiments, and if you're infected, you usually turn and are killed within days. Michael is one of the two original experiments, and will mostly be played as a human, of course. However, if you are V, you are a Vampire, or if you can somehow make a creative way of having a character that is a half-race (Vamp or Were) and still have them able to have most of their humanity, I'll review it and might accept it. I'd like to see some just humans, too. Be creative! You can have them be scientists, militia types, etc. This forum is open to join, so go for it! Just post your bio.))

The Outer Fringe, one of the first lines of defense for Humans. It had once been a downtown area, but was now a mini-fortress. Humans go about their daily lives of survival, and a small bar is open now. A song, a sad song, plays on a jukebox nearby, and there is no laughter, no merriment, though a few play pool in the corner. At the bar sits an odd man, and the whispers of the patrons are as loud in his ears as if they had shouted it to the heavens.
This was Michael, one of the most respected and feared of the Slayers. Many had thought they had seen him scratched or bitten by the creatures, but no evidence had been found on him after each battle. He had been nicknamed "Iron Skin" by some, due to the fact he had never been wounded. All scans for his DNA showed him clear, though the scanners were outdated. But they only knew he was human, and that was all that mattered. Had he been screened positive, like many new strangers who try to enter the gates, he would have instantly been killed, either by UV lights or a special type of bullet that had similar properties to silver but was less expensive to manufacture. How long the ammo reserves would last now that they had control of the airfield, no one knew. They only knew a constant message broadcast out to stay away from Blake Isle, the floating city named after the billionaire. And blowing up the airfield's fuel and planes at the last moment had helped to keep the quarantine, as well.
"Another..." Michael said, and the barkeeper looks at him oddly.
"12 shots of this hard liquor, yet you aren't even buzzed..." he says, amazed. "I'd think you be suffering from alcohol poisoning now."
Michael downs the next shot, then decide enough is enough. He needed to learn to control himself in public.
"What's new around here?" Michael said. "Any new Lairs spring up near the Fringe?"
The barkeep shakes his head.
"I wouldn't know. They don't keep us informed, those guys."
"Those guys" of course are the Militia hired by Blake Enterprises, who do their duty and nothing more to protect Blake's assets. Brave, they are called, but they would sooner look after their own than the scientists and civilians of Blake Isle. There is a somewhat unsteady compromise between them, however. New weapons in return for protection.
Michael nods, then freezes. His ears pick up an odd sound, one that fills him with fear, and a feeling of both dread and hatred washes over him. He doesn't realize he has growled until the barkeep snaps his fingers.
"Get everyone out! The Wall has been compromised!"
The sound, of course, had been that of an explosion, and the sound thunders seconds later. The wall has not even collapsed fully when men bearing weapons in vehicles come pouring in. No, not men. It is night, and their banner, a bloody fang, flies over the lead car.
"Vampires..." Michael says in disgust. He draws his revolver, and waits in the bar, that is now open, where people run towards the escape routes, and no one is playing pool. The jukebox plays its sad song, forgotten. And the first car stops in the center of the square, and the Vampires exit their vehicles, equipped with pistols, rifles, grenades... and long, sharp fangs.

((NOTE: If I use an !! in Italics, followed by a ... , then that's a flashback and ends with ...!!, ok? ))

The killing has already begun, five seconds before first blood was drawn. They are fast creatures, the genetically infected results of an escaped genetic experiment, V.
Even as the first vampires have begun to rip apart the obvious threat of militiamen, Michael is moving.

!!...
It's three years ago, in a secret underground laboratory on Blake Isle. Michael has just woken, and sees all sorts of equipment...and realizes he is inside a tube of sorts. A tank, he supposed. He sees a scientist at another tube, peering in at the occupant inside. And when Michael sees the man inside the other tube, he senses something... malevolent about him, even with all the fluid around himself, and the respirator. The other man had red hair, extending halfway down his face, and he looked to be in his early 20's. He is still unconscious, however. This is V...
Michael suddenly feels pain as his genetic code is awakened, and alarms go off. An emergency response system activates, and Michael's world goes dark as he loses consciousness.
...!!

And this pain is now beginning to surface, though Michael can now control it. He forces it back down, even though his adrenaline makes it more difficult. There is a reason he is known as the Heartless Slayer... he shows no emotions during a fight, and is as cold and calculating as the vampires themselves. He has killed many vampires, ranging in appearance from teenagers to old men, all stronger than a human being. They are creatures, with the exception of V... V is a monster.
Michael's blade slices through the first vampire, his emotions and fears leaving him, his adrenaline not rising any more than it has to.
A sad song still plays on the jukebox...in a bar.... in a battlefield....

Alex Was sitting on a bar stool when the Barkeep shouted amongst the loud talking and the roar of the jukebox "Get everyone out! The Wall has been compromised!" he shouted. Alex watched as people ran to the escape roots. He heard someone growl and watched as they jumped to their Feet. Cars stopped in the center of the square and vampires pour out carrying multipule weapons. Alex jumpes to his feet ripping a Colt .45 out of its holster and aiming at the the nearest vampire. Before he could fire, the other man killed the vampire with a katana. Alex took aim at another vampire while they were focused on the other man and fired at it hitting it in the arm it snarled and ran at him his fangs glistining blood red in the faint light

"Death awaits you..." mutters Michael, instantly pulling out his revolver. The bullets are silver, but they are also coated with a substance that is poisonous to vampires. Seeing as he never knew when he'd run into first, vampires or werewolves, he liked to ensure he had a backup plan for both.
He pulls the trigger, and the bullet enters the back of the vampire's head, and exits.
"If you really want to help... you'll get out of here," he coldly says, as he lays into another group of vampires. "These aren't ordinary vampires. They work directly for V, unlike some of the more wild ones you might find roaming the city these days."

((Yay! Flashbacks :) ))

Alex Bit his tounge. Normally he would have verbally attacked this man, But he knew it would have a bad idea given the situation. After all Alex had once had a family, until Vampire's killed them.

!!...
Alex walked in the main room. News was that vampires had invaded the city. He had to get his family somewhere safe. he walked into the bedroom where his wife should have been packing supplies to go into hiding. he dropped the stack of papers he had been carrying. a vapmire was standing by the bed clutching alex's wife by the neck. She was bleeding badly. An angry cry tore from his lips. The vampire smied at the sight of alex and threw alex's wife aside and darkness enveloped alex...
...!!

Anger boiled up in alex he shot twice hitting a vampire in the forehead and another in the arm. He thought carfully then said simply with a smile "No"

"As you wish..." Michael muttered, ripping a grenade off one vampire, and tossing it at a car full of vampires, which exploded a few seconds later.
"But this is a losing battle... so I suggest we retreat back to the next barricade..."
Michael was fighting back as he said this, and not too long later a group of militia banded together to help.
"The enemy of mine enemy..." Michael muttered bitterly.
And yet, despite all of Michael's calmness, the primal rage within him still kept trying to claw its way into his conciousness, to overtake his senses completely. It was simply that there were so many vampires around that was the problem.
Michael glanced at his watch. It was 5:47 AM.
"Get the innocent to safety. I shall keep them busy until sunrise..." Michael ordered the militia men. They obeyed; after all, in situations like these, a man with his reputation went unquestioned.

Christiana groaned as she sat up. Where was she? What had happened? The last thing she remembered was coming to this border town and... Christiana's hand went to her sword strapped to her side. There was a shadow moving in the corner of her eye. In one fluid motion, Christiana drew her sword and sliced at the shadow. She missed. A hand grabbed her from behind and she yelled. Another hand covered her mouth. She didn't have any room to use her sword. Christiana struggled as she felt hot breath on her neck. Vampires! How could she have been so stupid!

Two shots rang out... and Michael's gun was empty.
"Get to safety," he said the the girl he had just saved, before he drew his katana again and began to slash and hack. It didn't matter that they were clawing and biting him all over... some even recoiled in pain as his DNA began to attack theirs, in an attempt to convert the vampire cells into something else... the only ending result would be death, however.
And as soon as he was bitten or scratched, his skin would close up again, regenerating as quickly as it was damaged.
No one could actually see it, however, as they were busy running for their lives.
((BTW, Squall rocks!!! Love the avatar.))

((I'm still here, just been busy. I fixed the link to my character bio but here it is again. Christiana))

Christiana stood motionless for a few moments as the vampire slumped to the ground. She breathed a sigh of relief. That had been a lot closer than she would have liked. She shouldn't have been so careless. Christiana decided not to follow the man's advice and drew her second sword. This time, the vampires wouldn't be able to get so close.

Christiana fought fluidly, each motion blending into the next to form a deadly dance. She kept her back against a wall to avoid being taken by surprise and gracefully dispatched any vampire who came close enough to be skewered with her swords.

--~~♠~~--

As the clouds reddened with the coming dawn, the vampire captain ordered his troops to retreat. The losses had been substantial but the girl had been placed as V had ordered. The captain smiled. The end was coming... soon.

Michael howled as a vampire took him unawares, biting deep into his gun arm. Throwing him off with incredible strength, he proceeded to decapitate him with his katana.
He readied himself for more, but then the dawn broke over the horizon. Any vampire who had been careless enough not to retreat into the cars instantly began reacting violently to the sunlight. Some made it back, horribly burned. Others... fell into seizures and died.
So much the better, in Michael's mind. He paid no heed to the bite he had just received... it was merely another out of hundreds he had sustained.
Michael sighed in irritation as he inspected the area. They had ripped a hole in his sleeve that time.
Reloading his gun, he scanned the area for survivors.
"I see you are a Slayer yourself, young woman..." he said to the girl he had saved earlier. "Might I have the honor of knowing your name?"
He sheathed his sword, and holstered his gun. They wouldn't need it in the daytime, unless he ventured into a vampire nest later.
The Militia had gotten everyone else to safety, that could be saved. Others, already bitten, were... executed. Michael paid no attention to them; if not the Militia, Michael might have had to do it himself. It was a necessary evil for a harsh existence such as this.

!!!
"Fall back!" ordered Michael, signaling to the men under his command.
"But sir!" one of them protested.
"I SAID FALL BACK!" Michael said. "We cannot win this fight! Better to live today then be shipped home tomorrow in a wooden box!"
Alec fired at a few enemy heads, hitting them everytime, before they began the retreat.
!!!

Michael blinked in surprise. THAT was a new one. He had been... a soldier? Of what war? He shook his head. He had more important things to do right now.

Maya Daniels took a deep breath, and positioned herself at the ready. The vampire in front of her snarled, bearing his sharp fangs, and they circled around each other, glaring into their eyes. Maya's eyes were filled with duty, and vengeance, while the vampire's were filled with lust, and a heavy desire for her blood.

Mai had been walking through the street, when the vampires had arrived. And when they did, she ran into an alleyway, waiting for the element of surprise. Unfortunately, that was tossed out the window when one followed her into the alley, and chose to pick a fight. And, he'd brought friends. Joy.

It didn't take long for her to take care of them, moving with grace and agility, she put her blades to a quick and easy use.

And then there was this last one. He merely watched as she defeated the others with ease, and then he stepped up to the plate. The leader. Well, no, not the major leader. That would be V. This vampire was merely the leader of the small gang that had followed her into the alley.

Suddenly, the vampire lunged at her. Mai leapt into action, a battle cry emitting from her lips. With a flick of her wrists, she brought her elbow blades together, and crossed them at the vampire's neck. Pushing herself forward, she pressed him into the wall, being careful not to choke him or cut him with her blades. He may prove to be useful in the next moments.

"Mina!" She yelled into the man's face, "Mina Daniels! Where is she?!"

The vampire simply looked at her, knowing that he was defeated. But, he hadn't opened his mouth to utter any audible sounds, and it was obvious that he wasn't going to.

Maya sighed heavily, and the moment she was about to pull the blades apart to decapitate him, the sun rose, and he started to burn. She waited a moment, then pulled her blades away. The vampire fell to the ground, writhing in pain, and she left him hissing in the sunlight.

She turned and exited the alley, rounding a corner and entering a bar. She holstered her elbow blades to her belt, looking for survivors. It looked as if the Militia had already taken care of it.

To her left, she noticed the infamous slayer, Micheal. She'd never met the man in person before, and she really had no desire to at the moment. She nodded to a nearby woman who appeared to be a fellow slayer as well, and took a seat at the counter with a sigh. The barkeep was gone with the chaos. Maya wasn't looking for him anyway. She just placed her elbow on the surface and held her hand to her face. Still no luck finding her mother. For all she knew, she was dead. She honestly didn't even know why she was still looking for her. A small part of her just told her to keep searching.

But, her mother was a vampire! She was turned right in front of her eyes! Why was she looking for her, when all she'd be able to do for her was kill her? Maya didn't even know if she'd gained the emotional strength to go through with it. What was she supposed to do? Just walk up and say hi? "Oh, hey mom! Long time no see! Just figured I'd finish what I wasn't strong enough to do the first time. We had a good run, but I gotta kill you now."

Sighing, she planted her other elbow upon the table, and held her face in her hands.

Christiana smiled at Michael. "My name is Christiana." She sheathed her swords and turned back to Michael. "I'd like to thank you for saving my life back there. I shouldn't have been so careless and you gave me another chance to..." She stopped. It wouldn't be wise to admit that to anyone. "...live." Christiana smiled unconvincingly and hoped Michael wouldn't notice or at least mention her pause.

Glancing around, Christiana noticed another woman who appeared to be a slayer sitting degectedly at the counter. Christiana glanced at Michael then walked over and sat down next to the woman. "Hello. I'm Christiana. And you are?"
