I think we may have been interpreting the starting point of the seventy sevens prophecy incorrectly all along. What if the decree wasn't to be announced by a Persian king but announced by God through His prophets?

Many think the decree began either with Cyrus's release of the exiles or in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes. That would place the decree to either begin in 538 BC or 455 BC. This complicates the 69 sevens, an unbroken chain of events, landing either in the year 55 BC or 28 BC. I would like to propose another date that does not complicate the 69 sevens and lines up with the rest of the Bible's prophecies.

Both Zechariah and Haggai began prophesying to the exiles in the second year of King Darius the Great (520 BC) to return to rebuild Jerusalem and used the signs of Joshua the high priest and Zerubbabel the governor to assure the people the temple would be rebuild and that they should leave their lands of exile. Those two offices would be combined into one during the Hasmonean Dynasty and influence the Jewish understanding of the office of messiah. Therefore, from the decree by God to restore the temple and Jerusalem unto the time the messiah would be cut off would be 69 sevens, or 483 years.

If you count back 483 years from 520 BC, it lands you at the incredibly significant year 37 BC. This was the year the Hasmonean Dynasty was overthrown by King Herod the Great, putting an end to the office of the messiah. That office would remain vacant even throughout the destruction of the city and sanctuary (Daniel 9:26). This explains why there is such a long gap between the 69th and 70th year. The restoration of the office of the messiah is would kicks off the time of the end, but Jesus warned us that many would come in His name (title) saying, "I am he."

Paul told us that the lawless one will reveal himself as a god in God's holy temple. Revelation 13 showed us that false prophets would come and convince the world that the beast is a god by using signs and wonders. Daniel 9:27 shows us that the prince would confirm the covenant with many, which I believe alludes to the 10 toes of Daniel 2 and 10 horns of Daniel 7. With all this put together, the false messiah proves himself false by seeking to control the kingdoms of this world. Jesus' kingdom is not of this world, evidenced by his rejection of those kingdoms when he was tempted in the wilderness.

Its not really relevant per se, we know the 483rd year ended with Jesus' death. So, however God gave us the prophesy, whether the first 2 were continual or there was a break in time like with the 70th week, which is end times, its not relevant unto us now because we know Jesus died as year 483 finished up.

The 10 toes and 10 horns are are a continuation of the Roman Empire BUT MUCH LATER ON, the #10 means Completion, thus no mater when it is referenced, the E.U. with 8, 14, 27 etc. was always Complete Europe Reunited. There is no false messiah per se, yes after the Jews are in the Petra/Bozrah area the False Prophet (a Jewish High priest like unto Jason under Antiochus, whose real name was Yeshua) will tell them the Messiah has come, trying to trick them to come out of their safe zone, but Jesus told us where he will be coming from remember? If they say lo, he is in the desert or in a storage room, believe it not, for I will come in the Eastern Skies for all mankind to see. As per the Anti-Christ claiming to be a Jewish Messiah, that is nonsensical, he's a Gentile King like the other 6 Beasts were.

You misunderstand Matt. 24, verses 4-6 were about the 70 AD Events, thus those false christs were put forth by the Pharisees, hoping to be saved from the Fourth Beast like the Prophesy says, but its the EXTENDED Fourth Beast (really a 5th Beast) that is destroyed by Jesus, ONE MAN and his Kingdom. He will claim to be god, just not Jesus the Messiah of the Jews.

That's a very dismissive response. It is relevant. It's biblically and historically backed. What it is not is something regurgitated from Evangelical eschatologists. It's my own studies, of which I hold myself very critical. My aim is not to gather a following. It is discourse. If I present an idea, and someone dismisses it in favor of their own, that is not a discourse.

Let's be respectful to one another, following the example of Jesus more than our favorite pastors. I truly hope we can do that, Fisherking.

The decree probably refers to the decree in Jeremiah ch. 30. Thus the period of time mentioned by Daniel is the period of the Exile. The decree came through the Prophet Jeremiah, and the "messiah" of Daniel 9:25 is Cyrus. For 70 years the Jews were in exile.

"Seventy sevens are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place." - Daniel 9:24

Is probably referring to the 70 years of Exile, which was God's punishment, but which was temporary--ultimately God would restore His people, as the Prophet Jeremiah had said.

The only niggle here is what exactly is meant by shabua, translated as "sevens", or "weeks".
