Well...I think Cheryl is an amazing dancer and she could snub out Karina's candle on her worst day!!! Oh well, I'm glad Emmitt won! I liked Mario OK, but I don't like cocky ppl.

Mario, Mario, Mario, Karina MIGHT BE the best dancer in the world as you say. That said, this wasn't a competetion for professional dancers. The voters were deciding who had become the better dancer in the past 11 weeks, you or Emmitt. The votes were not a statement on Karina at all!
Plus I think it is unprofessional to get "involved" with your student (and that is what he was to her) She may be a great dancer but like you said, it's not about her.

I had repeating rumors so I had to go look it up....

Runners up Lopez, 33, and partner Karina Smirnoff couldn't hide their disappointment about coming in second place. Tears streamed down Smirnoff's face as she reluctantly talked to reporters and the usually jovial Lopez tried to console her.

"Apparently world-class dancing wasn't enough. That wasn't the criteria it was based on," a dejected Lopez told PEOPLE. "I don't really care about the trophy. I just wanted to win for Karina. She is honestly the best dancer in the world. No disrespect to the other girls on this show, but they don't hold a candle to her."
That is simply his opinion.....In my opinion Karina is not the best...There are even others I feel are better than she is...I think Cheryl is a great dancer.

I totally agree!
Of course Karina is a very good dancer, but in my opinion Cheryl is much better, and so were some of the others.
I personally did'nt care much at all for Mario and Karina's freestyle dance, it did'nt impress me like it did the judges.
Definitely the better team won!!

I don't think it was sportsmanlike of Mario to have said that he and Karina were the best ballroom dancing couple.

But I agree that their routines were better, and that he was the better dancer of the two finalists.

Had he been given 90 out of 90 the previous evening (instead of being tied with Emmitt at 89 out of 90) I am sure he would have won. But part of Dancing With the Stars is popularity. How else could Jerry Springer have lasted as long as he did? Or George Hamilton in the previous season?

How could Jerry Rice, another football player from last season, have come in second when he should have come in 7th or 8th?

And, as to whether Karina was the best of the female dancers, I would disagree....

I actually felt that her persona was a drawback to Mario's vote-getting appeal. Even my husband said, "She's kind of a sour puss."

My favorite female dancers are Cheryl and Edyta.

Karina I thought was a sore loser
After she and Mario lost and that
Really that shows you the kind of person
That she is after losing
Congrats to Emmitt and his partner
Way to go!!:amen:

TV Guide had quotes from two of the male dancers about Emmitt and Tony.

One (Vivica Fox's partner) said that Mario was always on his toes instead of leading with his heels the way ballroom dancers should. He said Emmitt was the better ballroom dancer (while leaving room for the idea, I suppose, that Mario was a better overall dancer--he is headed to NY to audition for "The Producers.")

Maxsim (Willa Ford's partner and bf) said Emmitt had "everything" in terms of dancing....

So I guess the voters picked the right winner!

ya they did. But I used to watch him play football and he's still a large size man(not fat) so the size suited him well in his football days; who knew it would not hamper him in dance?! He also is just a nice man(think a Christian) and who puts his family first. He has changed a lot since his football Carree he was a little like a typical hot shot football player. I think marriage and family has settled him down.
Bless

Now don't start picking on Mario's partner.

If you put your all in dancing and were the runner up, would you say nice things?
It takes a gracious spirit and a lot of will-power to be a cheerful loser in such a big contest.

If I was in any sort of contest and was the runner up, of course I would be disappointed that I did'nt win, but I would be gracious and say nice things about the person that did win, I would'nt be a sore loser.
Its not like they were the "losers" anyway, 2nd place out of 11 is pretty good!
I think Karina is a very good dancer, but in my opinion Cheryl is better.
