On Sunday’s syndicated Chris Matthews Show, panel member and former CBS anchor Dan Rather - currently with HDNet - made an over the top metaphor about . . .

Metaphors should be over the top. Makes it more difficult for the opposition to claim a writer or speaker is advocating what they are not. Say what you want about Dan Rather, his language is descriptive.

The GOPers prefer to specialize in the character assassination of Obama rather than run on their 2000-2008 track record - something they would prefer to forget.

The problem is that they have retained the same leadership of both the House and Senate from the "bad old days" - while Sarah Palin, is their only 2012 presidential candidate with anything that remotely resembles "national exposure."

Well, Mr. Rather this is what Obama wants to do to this country so go figure! I thought Rather was retired; his voice sure isn't. If he ever goes in a nursing home, I feel sorry for the healthcare workers.
Just another example of conservatives demonizing the messanger and indulging in personal attacks - rather than running on their record and/or debating the facts!

The facts are self evident-Rather is Rather is he not? And Obama is Obama is he not? Notice that there will be more conservatives in congress starting in Jan. Its because the deeds of congress are not measuring up. It is what it is. I expose not attack.

And he was a guest on a talk show -- whoda thunk he'd actually talk?

And that nursing home comment was "exposing" what, exactly?

Don't bother answering -- you won't anyway.

Plenty of people cared what he had to say when he was reporting the false story about Bush's NG service.
What happened to Rather after that false story? Oh he was fired and lost all credibility! Again, who cares what Rather has to say?

Apparently he's got enough credibility left that a reasonably significant talk show cares what he has to say.

Do you believe he is credible? Does it matter? Rather is telling the truth in this instance. Politically speaking, the GOPer's do want to destroy Obama. Do you deny this?

Just to put Rather's comments in their proper context, let's not forget that Rather is the same guy who was forced to "resign" from the sweetest gig in all of broadcast journalism after being caught in a lie involving fake documents in order to influence a presidential election.

"Significant" isn't the same as credible.

Alvin Greene received a significant amount of votes in the South Carolina Senate race.

The Spice Girls sold a significant number of albums.

Octomom had a significant number of children.

Barbara Walters has had a significant number of sexual partners.

Doesn't give any of them credibility. Chris Matthews is an idiot.

No I don't. I just don't like the whining about it. It's unfortunately the way of American politics over the last several decades. No difference between anything the right want's to see happen with Obama and what the left wanted to see happen with Bush.

I've also got more than a little problem with the violent analogy he's using. If a similarly irrelevant conservative commentator had said similar about the left when Bush was in office, would you have the same "it's no big deal" attitude? Unlikely.

Chaz now sits back and waits for the inevitable "but no, it IS different" rationalizations.

And the presence of idiocy does not preclude the presence of credibility. Idiot of not, plenty of people view Matthews as quite credible.
