Um...it's speculated that this caused his heart to go into fibrilization, but I don't think that's been released as definite. Sometimes it seems to happen out of the blue to those who never suspected they had heart problems.

I think Damar was lucky that he was close to paramedics when it happened.

It turns out that he's the second NFL player to have cardiac arrest during a game. The first was Chuck Hughes in 1971. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, but may have died on the field.

Sort of like bodybuilding, steroid abuse aside, a lot of those guys (despite being "ripped") end up with some serious health issues later on in life as a result of their size. Former multi-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman now has to hobble around in a walker and take large amounts of pain meds to the damage he did.

If I may swerve down this rabbit hole, Colemans issues are atypical even for former mass monsters. He and Dorian Yates were essentially the same, absurd, size of 300ish pounds of muscle on a just shy of six foot frame. The damage done to Yates from his time body building is more typical, bad joints, loss of normal hormone function for life, and heart issues. Colemans being near crippled is, in my opinion, his choosing to include power lifting and trying to lift as high a weight as possible while powering thought injuries.
