This is an old lie that the HIV denialists used. Not so common now since many of them died of AIDS. This is the first time I've seen it in connection with COVID19, but I guess it was bound to happen.

The old lie? You mean the one that Kary Mullis, the inventor of PCR test, employed when he realised there was no proof of a causal connection between HIV and AIDS? Ot the one that Dr Lanka used when he won his German appeal court decision vindicating his claim that the measles virus has never been shown to exist?

Don't think they 'died of AIDS', but I'm sure it could be arranged to look that way, with the help of an army of marginally useful idiots of course.

I've found the most useful site for the US to be https://covidtracking.com/data/charts. They show historical charts of daily tests, new cases, hospitalization and deaths for the US, regions of the US, and states.

Other sections of the site have the actual numbers, and definitions of what the numbers mean for each state, e.g. whether counts include probables, and things like that. You'll find that various states have weirdness, particularly Florida.

I think you'll find that this is the actual source of the data used by a number of other sites.

When looking at case numbers, remember that testing is much higher now than in March. Comparing case counts now in S and W with those in NY in March is thus questionable, although trends seem fair to compare. Hospitalizations are probably a better comparison.

It's an identified virus, with a fully sequenced genome. The PCR tests used to detect cases are not fully accurate, but as @Occams Barber says, that cuts both ways. The death counts are reliable enough to tell us how the disease is moving.

And the Koch postulates don't really apply terribly well to viruses anyway. See here for a 21st century version of the list.

They can say almost anything to the simple minded and naive like they have and its believed without any critical research nor critical thinking whatsoever. We ought to test everything according to scripture. But yet when it comes to governments that’s off limits to the hypocrites. Show when they’ve purified this so called virus called Covid 19. Give proof that these genetic sequences replicated from the PCR test detects a specific virus. You can’t because the PCR test is not a diagnostic tool to detect a virus. The inventor of this test will tell you that. The PCR test is not reliable at all is what you should’ve said

I had the same rebuttal in the last thread. In fact, I was initially confused as to what they were going on about until it became clear they seem to doubt that viruses even cause disease.

When some people are entrenched in denial, it doesn't matter what they are presented.

(As a further FYI, they're also a 9/11 "truther". I wouldn't hold out hope for a rational discussion.)

It appears that you do not understand the concept of evidence. In the sciences the definition of evidence is very clear and there is more than enough evidence that shows HIV causes AIDS.

I will make a deal. Once you learn what is and what is not evidence I will supply the evidence for the HIV AIDS connection.

Doesn't sound like purification to me. Sounds like doubletalk, doubletalk with a flexible definition of 'isolation'.

These are apparently pics of the virus grown in vitro culture, which do not prove that they aren't just proteins released from dying cells placed in culture. There were no control experiments done which also might assist here.

Purification preferably by ultracentrifugation is what the the textbooks say is required. Back to the drawing board, sir.

um...but...you appear to be quite happy with Koch. His work was based on colorized microscope images of bacteria. Why do you accept that, but not this? Also, his purification involved the culture of the bacteria in the lab, which is basically the same as we do with viruses.

Purifying virus is not that hard. I have done it numerous times.
