Curious about the Virgin?

As your statement post above says, I dont want to argue with anybody about the Virgin Mary. However, I was wondering what Christians such as yourselves thought of her?
I mean, do you ever talk about her? Discuss any theological treatise dealing with her? Do any of you think she may fulfill any prophecies, deny any prophecies, etc all. I'm just a guy who grew up Catholic and charismatic... so Mary has always been a part of my life. I just wanted to know what any of you thought about this, thats all.

Pacis et Bonum!

I believe the Bible says she was a virgin, betrothed to Joseph, and before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit. As a Reformed Protestant, I do not think there's any good reason to think she herself was conceived without sin (Immaculate Conception) or remained a perpetual virgin after giving birth to the Savior.

I think she was probably a devout Christian who cared very much for her Lord. I believe she was a virgin when she conceived but I don't give much thought to whether she remained a virgin because I don't think it is important one way or the other. I don't think she was chosen because she was special. I think she was special because she was chosen. I don't think she was without sin nor do I think she deserves any exalted position in the church. She should be respected for the example she sets for followers of Christ.

As for prophetical fullfillment, she is as prophecy says she is. Her role now is what her role has been since God made her His child. She is a follower of God.

God bless

My opinion and some general thoughts:

She was the most blessed of all women.
Lk 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Mary was the chosen vessel to bring God to Earth in human form to act as our Redeemer. I don't see where the Bible says that she is anything more than this.

I don't see anywhere in the Bible where it says why she was chosen for this. It does say that she was highly favored. The mystery of this favor and choice is, in my mind, similar to the mystery of God's choice to elect some to salvation and not others.

I don't ask her to interceed for me because Jesus told us to ask of the Father in His, Jesus, name. As far as I can recall, Jesus never told us that it is ok to ask anyone else to interceed for us.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I'd have to agree with everything everyone else wrote. She was blessed because she was chosen to be Jesus mother, not because she was any more special then anyone else at that time. As far as whether or not she stayed a virgin, I don't see why she would, or should and I don't see how it matters. I also don't think she was born sinless, because only Jesus has that distinction, and I'm sure (being a mother myself) that as a mother, she didn't stay sinless!! LOL

And Jesus is my only intercessor, I need no one else.

As I am new at discussing Theology, I am sure my brothers/sisters will correct me if I blow it.

I grew up in RCC and left. When called to return to church, I rejected the RCC and this is one of the reasons - as mentioned above.

I agree with:

No where in the Bible does it say once forgiven by a priest/through a priest to go say 25 Hail Mary's.

Sign my petition at PETA-NO-MORE.ORG demanding that John Kerry stop having two opposite opinions on every issue thereby destroying the honorable reputation of the name of Flipper the Dolphin and that he Pay 3.5 tons of squid and shrimp to Flipper & decedents for Desecrating his honorable name.
I know this is off topic but.... ROFL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mary has never been a part of my life and thanks to the folk who go on about her , I automatically think of Mary Magdelene when Mary is mentioned.
