Crying it out - getting stubborn infant to sleep in his bed.

I Bf'd both of our children. We also had a family bed. Oldest started sleeping alone about 5 yrs of age and youngest about 8 yrs of age (didn't start in our bed but came and half way through and snuggled). However that is just us...it's not wrong to have a family bed, nor is it wrong to let a child cry it out. Do what is right for you.
However with spanking, here in Canada, it is actually child abuse to spank a child under 2 years of age and over 12 years of age. One can be arrested! A spanking constitutes of a swat on a covered bottom, not out of anger...(I know this as I had an essay and had to interveiw child services, councellers and police).
No idea what the law is for spanking down the states though.
