  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There is a line, though. Earlier on a very vitriolic post was deleted from a thread that was started by a vulnerable user. I think it was a good decision. There is polite disagreement; there is light-hearted fun-poking; and there is even room for some quite sharp criticism. But attacking people who are clearly in a vulnerable state is cruel and uncalled-for.

I heard about that post--Sidhe told me about me. And from what I understand it was a disgusting horrible post and I applaud it being removed. I think the mods though know the difference between vitriolic posts and someone reporting out of spite or reporting something where there really isn't evidence of a real violation. Or at least I would hope so.

I read the posts that Miss Shelby posted in this other thread in question and honestly the report(s) of those posts add up to down right childishness. Just my opinion though.. :)

I've been "spite" reported a couple times. I seriously think the report button should be taken away, or at least only given to people who have self control. I can name at least 2 long time posters who report any/all "rule violations" regardless of how the thread is going or the intent of the posters. People who like enforcing rules often cause more trouble than anyone else.

I agree, spite reports are annoying. But when I was mod I saw people complain that they were spite reported when in fact they had posted quite cruel or vile things. This isn't the case here (I read the granny jokes thread and it was fun, not mean-spirited) and so it will probably just go through the motions and be a non-violation. That's all the mods are able to do. A lot of stuff that people blame on the mods are really just side-effects of having rules and regulations that have to be stuck to to have an orderly internet forum.

Someone in this forum reported me for joking around with another member. One member was kidding about my grandma and so I joked back. Some panty waisted crybaby reported me.

Whoever you are you're a yellow bellied tattletale.

Panty-waisted? How rude! Insulting women who wear underwear. How mean.

*cries like a baby at being insulted*

It's not my fault bloomers have gone out of style!

:p

There is a little irony in this thread so i'd like to complain about people complaining about people complaining :D

We have no problem with people complaining - it's just the indiscriminate reporting we don't like :p

Ah yes, I had one like that; the reason given was "mocking God and Christian beliefs". I was doing nothing of the sort, of course. How in the world could an atheist mock God?
Yeah, I got one for saying someone could consider other's beliefs or something of the sort and got reported for questioning their beliefs. I liked that one. Other report was completely my fault though, kinda blanked on the word filter. <-<

I got reported for commenting on policies--and within 2 minutes of my post too. Apparently disagreement with a policy and a staff decision is = to ultimate & complete disrespect for the new owner of this site.

I've been a pretty good girl here lately :p I haven't gotten too much heat here. :D LOL

Why get so upset about the reporting?

Because some people tend to report every thing. You proved someone was wrong? You just got reported!

I had every post in a certain thread reported, what rule did I break? None, I just dared disagree with the OP.

Reps and more power to you.

I've had a couple of reports recently "disappeared" without any message from the mods. Resulting from someone who was not brave enough to be public or attempt to rebut my posts reporting me. They just went running off to Big Brother.

Be careful, the secret police are out there, and so are the informers.

Very poor show.

Ok, who the heck reported this OP of the thread....

I'm calling you out and the person who started this mess by being a pain and reporting the other post to begin with.

You are a crybaby and you have way too much time on your hands. You need to lighten up and kinda get a life.

If you aren't just trying to cause trouble and come forward. Or are you trying to hide behind Moderators?

If you don't want to see posts that offend your obvious frail sensibilities then perhaps the Nick Jr. site would be more for you...

That was me. And I usually don't bother. But apparently people think this is a-okay.

I wasn't responsible for the other posts. But acting like a baby in response to being treated like one is no way for a grown woman to act*. And yet people are encouraging it. Why does it seem like I'm the only person who saw this and thought "This is a very immature thread". Because it seems like it. Everyone else laughed right along. Guess what, reporting posts you find inappropriate is okay. It doesn't hurt anyone to make sure. She knows nothing about the reporter or their intentions and she flew off the handle and came here to cry about it. To me, SHE is the crybaby. Not the report who was probably just doing what they thought was right. And you're all encouraging it by coming in here with this attitude: "LOL yeah I hate that! Spite reporters suck!"

Besides, this is off-topic. There is no discussion in the first post.

And you're not acting like a baby reporting a thread that you made a snide remark in on the first page (by the way that was real mature too) and crying about it not fitting into E&M. Puuhlease. Give me a break. Do you report the other threads that are responses to the more serious threads on here (Like how the Caturday thread started out in response to all the threads on homosexuality) I get so sick of people on this site who pull crap like this.

As for no discussion if you would take the time to READ the rest of the pages--there is discussion. Thank you.

Sarcasm is a snide remark now? I apologize, the sarcasm was probably not needed. Though I doubt it would change your opinion if it was typed in the flattest tone possible (y'know, for text).

As for the report, I was planning on reporting it for being off-topic when it was first made but I was in a hurry. I came back and found it the way it is. Nice motivation really.

If you're really so hurt by a report (which by the way, is nothing. It's just telling you "Someone doesn't feel your post fits the guidelines". Nothing else. I bet if the mods DID take action you'd feel the moderation is unfair. Wanna know why? Because no one ever wants to admit when they do something wrong. Guess what hon, you do. When someone reports you, instead of crying about it, take it as a hint. I love advice. Give me advice. When I try to give advice people whine and cry about how I'm mean or bossy or don't like them. No, I'm trying to help them. That's what reporting should be considered.

I find it funny you call Miss Shelby a crybaby with all the energy, crying and whining about this thread you are expending about it...

And for you information there are spite reporters here. If I where you I'd not just dismiss people and what they have experienced on this site.
