• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It shouldn't bother you. That is the way that the world goes. Sometimes people report others just to give them a hard time.

I've never reported anybody in my life and I have found that moderators here tend to be fair. Things I have been reported for have never become issues because they really never were.

Don't let it bother you. Or, as they say, they win.

Someone in this forum reported me for joking around with another member. One member was kidding about my grandma and so I joked back. Some panty waisted crybaby reported me.

Whoever you are you're a yellow bellied tattletale.

The sad thing is that the Government here on CF will probably delete this thread because it discusses reports, which is also against the rules :p

My favorite report was when someone said I shouldn't be allowed to criticize the bible.

Ah yes, I had one like that; the reason given was "mocking God and Christian beliefs". I was doing nothing of the sort, of course. How in the world could an atheist mock God?

To be fair to mods...
While moderation in this forum pre 07/07/07 was incredibly biased, since then it's been far more evenhanded.

What happened on the 07/07/07, or is that the name of an evil former moderator?

If the mods were that biased now, i probably wouldn't be sitting here posting.

When I first joined this forum I had high hopes for good debate.

I found out quickly that one of the easiest ways to break a rule is to disagree with someone. And if that someone happened to have a moderator who was a friend, well you could be assured that your post was gone.

Heck, I've got a poster who is harassing my using reputation comments of all things, but I am not going to report him.

Children will get tired of it soon enough.

There does seem to be a fair amount of people lately who act as if we are still in grade school and they have to go tattle and go the teacher.... :sigh:

Yeah, it is a little pathetic. There are insults thrown from every side of every debate here, and I think that it's rare for people to be personally offended - it's usually someone other than the recipient of the insult who reports the post, in my experience!

There is a line, though. Earlier on a very vitriolic post was deleted from a thread that was started by a vulnerable user. I think it was a good decision. There is polite disagreement; there is light-hearted fun-poking; and there is even room for some quite sharp criticism. But attacking people who are clearly in a vulnerable state is cruel and uncalled-for.

Okay, before I post this, let me say, I didn't report you, but - - - - Why does the reporting bother you? The mods look at things, decide if something was violated, and unless you did violate a rule, it stops there.

Why get so upset about the reporting?

Someone either was offended, or thought you were hurting someone else, they wanted, what they thought was painful or insulting or whatever removed. Which is the REAL purpose of reporting, to remove things that don't need to be on the forum.

So it went for review. Big deal.

Because if you do not already know there are some people here to "spite report" and do things out of spite because they do not like a poster or what they say or represent and then try in some childish manner to foolishly get that person in trouble.

There are people here who are honestly entirely to sensitive to absolutely anything. I don't mean rudeness but other things. Things that people kinda need to just get over.

I'm sorry but its behavior I'd expect from a 7 year old. Not adults.
