  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Let's just bend all the rules then, including the ones that keep certain users from from very descriptive insults. Sounds like fun eh? And don't say "Well I wouldn't get offended" because if reporting is offensive, then, yeah.

No not really. I still think the OP has no discussion therefore shouldn't be in the discussion forum. There are plenty of fun forums. This forum is fun but not "Lets do whatever we want fun". If that were how the real world was, I'd dig myself a hole and live underground. But it's not.

EDIT: No I didn't see the original. I don't need too because it doesn't matter. She's complaining about a report and calling people "crybabies". I believe my original point was, how very immature. Classic 3rd grade. Someone tattled on me, lets get all my friends and go pick on them and make them feel bad. It's just a report, rules need to exist, and you won't always get everything you want. Grow up, all of you. I learned all this when I was 5.

You know what I've learned since I was 5? That some of the best debates and discussions happen when then are lighthearted moments allowed. Humour helps keeps a topic going, it helps keep people in good spirits, and sometimes it can let people think about things in a whole new way. So when I see a joke, I don't hit the "report" button. Well, if it was something truly horrible, or aimed at a vulnerable member, then perhaps I would hit the report button. But for you average silly joke? Nope.

I don't think this thread is wholly off topic. It's about the ethics and morality of debating and discussion.

Could the thread have started with a more diplomatic title? Sure. Could the OP be a little more laid-back about reports? Sure. Could I have a less silly hat in my CF doll? Sure. But if everyone was the same, life would be boring.

I don't like bullies. I'm a friend to the underdog. But I also know that sometimes there isn't a bully at all when two sides disagree... there are just two disagreeing sides.

On a side note, you know what else I learned when I was 5? To stay out of other people's business. For some reason, that lesson still hasn't stuck :p
