Crocs clogs and escalators may be risky mix

I have stood at the end of the escalator to show my kids, the escalator is safe, how can shoes get stuck?

My daughter did get cut at Universal studios escalator with a uneven seem in the hand rail. But the shoes getting caught in the end?

It's those stupid plastic shoes parents think are so "convenient" for their kids and even themselves to wear. The shape and soft structure of the clog or the croc causes it to get snagged on the lip of the escalator. This actually used to happen a lot, 35 years ago, before Otis and other escalator manufacturers started "bull-nosing" the lip at the top and bottom where the steps glide underneath. That is, tapering it so as to minimize the interface between steps and the lip. But these stupid shoes obviously defeat the purpose. People are cattle. They buy stuff for their kids that, if they thought about it, they probably wouldn't get. But who thinks anymore?

Croc flip flops, however, are amazingly comfortable. Living in a place where it is already over 100 every day, they are an amazing shoe to have.

I guess people need to have a fear of the end of the escalator, not for fear of tripping but of getting pulled into the belt.

I like a good pair of athletic shoes, and rarely take them off( except to shower or sleep.). I didn't realize they were that soft.
