  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey, ladies, hoping somebody can give me some advice. I like to crochet thread Christmas ornaments. I have a few started but can't finish them until I get some gold colored thread. I can't find it at Wal*Mart or a large craft store. Does anybody know where to get it? It's gold with a metallic gold thread through it. I'm getting ready to look on ebay so may solve my own problem.

I will just be so disappointed if I can't find anymore of it.

That's a good idea.

I was doing some house cleaning a few months ago and threw away nearly a whole ball of the stuff because it was tangled. Figured it would be easier to just go buy some new. Now I'm kicking myself!

Have you tried looking at Joann's? They have this on their website:

Yes, that's it. I will check tomorrow at a Joann's. The closest is about 40 minutes away. If they don't have it at least I know now that I can order it online. Thanks! Celticflower!

she couldn't? Usually they can.

That's what I thought. Odd. I almost went to the service desk and asked but didn't.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas! Did anybody get some crchet gifts this year??

My friend Candy gave me 4 skeins of Homespun (2 in Tudor, 2 in Quartz).
My sister Barb gave me 4 skeins of RedHeart Aran, and 2 each in Sage and Claret with a note asking if it was enough to make her a gift for next year! (one of her dogs has claimed the afghan I made her a few years ago).
My sister Sandy gave me 10-50 gram balls of an alpace & silk blend in a chocolate brown. It is a DK weight as near as I can figure from the suggested gauge. Now I just have to find something I can make with it for me!

I have already started making gifts for next year. I am currently working on a 44-inch tabletopper doily called Hearts and Pineapples. It will go to one of my sisters.

I got planty of yarn many differnt colors, several new hooks, a bag for my hooks and scissors and such and a patterns. Which my grandma made a poncho for my sister and was going to make one for me, but A. ran out of time and B. figured I'd have fun making it myself, and she was correct about that. I just hope I on't mess up my own Christmas preasent. I made my mom's vest a size too big, but she likes it.

Happy New Year!!!

Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and that it was filled with love.

I didn't get any crocheted or home made items for Christmas. I am the one that primarily does that in my famly, but I did get a couple of gift cards to hobby lobby and a couple of gift certificates for the specialty yarn store downtown.

I love to crochet. Self taught. I always had a desire to learn but there was no one to teach me so 2 years ago I taught myself. 3 days ago I just found out my grandmother knew how to knit and crochet...go figure why she never told me before.

My grandmother crocheted too, but she died when I was too little to learn ( I was about 2). I taught myself to crochet about 22 years ago, using a book. This set up a wonderful mindset for me--if I can read it (the pattern) I can crochet it. Recently I learned to do symbol crochet which opens a whole nuther world of patterns -- many from Europe and Japan are written in symbols only. Don't know if my bookcase will be able to take the strain!
