  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Crocheting is fun. I used to do a lot more than I do now. However, it won't be long I may pick it up again. There is a certain "burn out" if it is done too much, and this may have been what happened to me. I have crocheted some doilies recently, and got satisfaction in that. Mostly, I do crochet Afghans.

I finished the Aran afghan!! Well, all but the fringe, but that is pretty simple.

country woman--I made an afghan based on the wedding ring quilt for my sister's wedding a few of years ago. I used Country blue, country rose, hunter green and off white! (and before anyone busts a fingernail asking--the pattern is in the book "Vanna's Favorite Gift Afghans".)

She who dies with the most patterns wins :p .

I just won a recycle contest on another site. I'm getting 5 back issues of Crochet Magic magazine and a book from Bernat. Like I need more patterns in my stash??? Oh well, you never know what you may find that you just have to make.

I never met my grandma but she crocheted baby blanket for my mum to keep. Now my cousins wife is pregnant and my oldest aunty is knitting a baby blanket for it because she never payed attention when grandma tried to teach her. Our whole family was sitting around a table at my aunties house and she said that it made her almost cry because she feels that it is a dying art. It made me sad too :(
