  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Another self-taught crocheter checking in here. I love almost all styles of crochet (but I can't do Cro-Tat to save my life!). Now I teach others-mainly 3-5 graders at a mid-winter school program.

Here's a twist for you--I am a right handed crocheter, but since I had left handed students who could not do the "follow in the mirror trick" I learned to crochet left handed just for them! Great way to blow people's minds.

I am currently working on an Aran style afghan for a friend (all cables and shells) and have the thread waiting for 2 doilies as well as yarn for a blanket for Project Linus. I also have 2 Linus blankets that I need to weave the ends on (UGH!).

My 12 year old daughter also crochets and helps teach. She is really good at "doodles" (ie-making stuff up as she goes along). recently she learned thread crochet and is now trying to make Barbie doll clothes.

Ha, celtic flower that is funny, I learnt how to crochet by trying to make barbie clothes too :) . My first one was an extremely odd shaped shawl with a button to hold it together. I was about 10 or 11. Good on ya for teaching the youngies the wonderful craft!

I love my little hooks!! I just treated myself to a size 13 and a size 14 since I had a little teaching money left. Now I can work the tiny threads.
Has anyone tried any Irish Crochet? I made a doily last year--took forever to make and connect all the roses, but it is gorgeous! I have some patterns that are even more complex that I am trying to get up the nerve to try.
