  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi everyone,

BarbraJean I was looking at your projects thread, you have done some amazing stuff. I have an afghan book with the pattern in it for the American flag that you did, there are some amazing patterns there.

I would never keep anything that I made. I made a really nice shawl - copying the pattern from a store bought shawl- and gave it to my sister. I was so proud of it I took a photo.

I just finished another one but made with a cream thread and put beads through the edging with out a fringe. It ended up much larger than I thought it would. I received 3 complements on it the first day I wore it out.

I am working on a new shawl now with the same colour wool that I used for my sisters shawl but putting beads through it, so far looks amazing.

I have difficulty finishing a project, last time I went through my craft box, there were over 20 half finished projects.

I am having an operation next week, I will work on some stuff for my niece who will be born in Feb.

Thanks for the inspiration!

sounds wonderful. The only things I've kept that I've made are a purse(which was the first purse I made so it's slightly warped) and a poncho that my grandma gave me the yarn for for Christmas. She said A. she thought I'd have fun making it and B. she ran out of time making my sister's identicle one.

Your projects sound great! And I love the colors in your shawl. I've never tried putting beads on anything.

The pattern book - does it also have the daisy afghan pattern? That's my main project right now. I love it!

beads are pretty easy to work with as long as you keep your head about you and remember what you're doing.

Not a UT fan I take it? Lol.

I'm not a big college sport fan at all :D , but that is beside the point. That shade or orange just didn't go with the copper the pattern also calls for. I found some RH Pumpkin that is a much warmer shade and seems to be the right one. I started the afghan last night and have done 25 of 157 rows. It may take me awhile because the pattern is in row counts for Tunisian. Since my color changes in that are not great yet I am doing it in singles. Which means I have to remember to reverse all the even rows of the pattern. I went thru and highlighted them all last night -- let's just hope I remember to do it right!

As for the other orange - I will team it with white and make a blanket for Project Linus. The closest chapter IS in Knoxville after all.

Has anyone here ever crocheted a cape? I'm thinking about making one for playtime with my 7 year old niece. Anyone have any tips for it?

What do you mean by cape? as in a cloak with no arms and a head covering? I have never made on, but do have a great easy pattern for a shawl that may be converted by a clever person.

I also have come across some really amazing patterns that I cannot wait to try. They are in Russian, but they are really easy to follow, my best friend is Russian, and her friend is a good crocheter so she can help me out as well. They are far better than anything I have every been able to find in English, the designs are just amazing. I can scan some pictures so you can see (if anyone would like).

Have a great day everyone, I am off to get another storage trunk, I just got over 160 balls of mohair wool for under 70c a ball! I will be busy!!!!!
