  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just finished a long scarf. I used the regular worsted weight yarn that you can buy for less than a dollar per skein. I used one skein of black and 1/4 of a double skein of hot pink. I crocheted it lengthwise instead of widthwise. I did a long chain (about seven feet or so) and then came back and did a double crochet and did a double crochet for five rows. Then I tied in my pink and did five rows of pink, then went and did one more of the black. So there's one wide black stripe running the length of the scarf, one hot pink one in the middle, and then another black one. I tied pink tassles under the black stripes and black tassles under the pink stripe. It turned out *so cute*! I've found also that by chaining one before turning your work and going back with the double crochet that your work won't curl as much. There's also another stich you can chain around the entire permimeter of your work, but I haven't learned that one yet. Also, keeping your stitches looser helps too.

I am working with this Lion Brand yarn called Polarspun. It's really beginning to frustrate me. I'm using a size Q hook (which I'm so not used to) and it's really fuzzy so it's next to impossible to see my top stitch. Grrrrr. Ah well, I shall persevere.

Oh! Does anybody know of a good crochet hat pattern, like the simple slip on hats that look like a tobagan. Thanks.

My mother taught me how to crochet when I was 7. I have been doing it ever since. I can not say that I am all that good at it. I can say however, that it is a good hobby to get involved in. I remember when I was learning. I would get so frustrated, and my mother would tell me. Have patients. You will get it. I would ask her how she knew I woudl get it and she would tell me, because you can do all things in Christ who strangthens you!

Hi there all, haven't been to the forums in awhile and just stopped by today for some reading. I don't recall seeing a hobby forum before and how great to find a thread on one of my favorite subjects.
I've been crocheting for about 3 years now and love it. Everyone got afghans from me this past Christmas and I currently have 4 projects going. Does anyone else do this...too many going on at one. *grin*

There are so many patterns to be found online too

Hope to get to know a few other crocheters around here.

I've been crocheting for about 20 years. I love it! I just finished a scarf using the Lion Brand Fun Fur and Lion Brand Homespun, just using a P hook and single crochet. It's all fuzzy and fun. I've made several scarves this year. I am also working on a baby sweater, which will have booties and a hat to match. I find it fun and rewarding to give home made things as gifts. Most everyone absolutely loves them. I tend to get a lot of my patterns, not all, from the free leaflets at Wal-Mart and various other stores.

Keep crocheting all!
Cindy

I crochet. Wimpy knitting, that's what it is. I've tried knitting but I don't think it worked for me. I have made a few baby blankets and scarves, and am currently making beanie hats which seem to be a fad over here, and they sell well. I've crocheted since I was seven or eight. By the way, that's pronounced "kro SHAY"! And no, it's not related to croquet...though a croquet mallet might be mistaken sometime for a crochet hook. Or not. Anyway. Does anyone else crochet?

you jooish piece of shyt your mom wimpy knitts my big mormon [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]
