  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Creationists - Why did god make the universe to big?

Your belief is certainly worthy of fstdt.com, but I can't really find any individual quotes worthy of being submitted. Please sumarize the beliefs you have expressed in this thread in some catchy quote, I'd be very grateful.

Peter :)

"My belief," huh?

I'll give you a whole book to be grateful with:
  • God's Voice in the Stars, by Kenneth C. Fleming
The back cover reads as follows:
  • Aquarius, Gemini, Sagittarius... What do these horoscope signs have to do with the Bible? The answer is that God created the stars and named the constellations long before demonic forces corrupted the meanings of the stars and enslaved people with superstitious horoscope addiction. Author and Bible teacher Kenneth C. Fleming presents with striking clarity the beautiful story of human redemption through Christ as picture so graphically in the starry heavens.

Not useful. I'd need your own words.

Peter :)

uhhhhhh.. i know its not addressed to me, but seeing how were finding new planets all the time now, and if all goes well over the next couple of decades, hopefully we will be seeing them.
I don't think you can comprehend the size of the universe. If you started travelling through space right now at the speed of light and kept going for a billion years you would not even be one tenth of the way across the universe. I think we can safely say that there are stars humans will never see - what purpose do they serve?

And don't forget: We might not ever get anywhere near traveling at the speed of light, anyway. The speed of light is 8 times around the Earth per second, I don't think any vehicle we have currently approaches that.

And then the gem: Since the universe is expanding, the stars on the horizon of the visible universe are moving at the speed of light away from us and are effectively unreachable.

If humans are Gods principal creation, why did he create a universe that is bigger than we can even imagine? Why create stars and planets we can't ever hope to see?
if the universe was much smaller, then nucleosynthesis would not occur, and therefore there would be no helium and therefore no heavy elements, making the formation of rocky planets like our own impossible

Because one day we will see them. Presently we are limited by time and this natural realm but after this dispensation is over those who believe the Lord and our faithful to Him will be opened up to all that He has prepared for us in the future.

You know this........how?

Sounds like a bunch of wishful thinking.

I should try and get to bed early tonight, you will feel better in the morning after a good night rest.

Is that a new character? Could we see your face before. Not that it is really YOUR face but you know what I mean. I think.

That the Anthropic principle is a bit flawed. Imagine a bacteria thinking that a little corner in your GI tract is the ultimate goal of the universe.

I guess I was more curious as to why he asked what purpose do they serve.

I'm not sure I have ever heard that nucleosynthesis is dependent on the size of the universe.

In any case, that seems like an awfully trivial constraint for an omnipotent being.

Sorry... are you saying God create life, the universe and everything with the "Big Bang"? Since this theory explains nicely the size of the universe.

And the bible does not mention any planets for them?

That's a shame...

Why is that a shame?

Sorry - this will be off topic, but you asked.

It is a shame the bible could not describe something not known by a Bronze Age tribe.

It is a shame the bible could not tell us something only a god could know about the universe. Since maybe then, we might have some evidence that the bible was written by a god.

Just a thought.
