My only friend who had a baby as a teenager believed the "pull out method" was an effective form of contraceptive because she'd never had any form of sex education to disabuse her of that misconception. She also believed that in the "eyes of the Lord" she and her boyfriend at the time were married because they had exchanged vows to one another and planned on legally marrying at 18. She's from an ultra-convserative Southern Baptist family and went to the school operated by the church. If we evolved from some single life form over time, what makes us more than just accumulated proteins, fats and carbohydrates, minerals and metals, all wrapped up with a cellular central processing unit?
