  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I would have to agree...

It is a disturbing trend I have seen more and more of recently... And as a Christian it bothers me deeply... Instead of doing risky things like preaching love and forgivness to the world, a thing that would be likely to get one persecuted, churches seem to be taking up these stupid little battles and crying "persicution" when they are obviously in the wrong.

I can't imagine this will go anywhere. It'll take some doing to show that this guy was harmed by the policy when he never even tried to get a letter. For med school you need to have your "package" ready to go by August prior to your senior year to be competitive in the selection process (if you plan to go right after finishing your undergraduate work). This includes completing the MCAT and obtaining at least three letters of recomendation. It's a good idea to get more than just three letters and it's also a good idea to have done some medical or scientifically related work (paid or volunteer). Seeing as this guy dropped out as a freshman it is unlikely he had done any of this at all and likely had not met any of this professor's other criteria. What harm was done to him? What wrong shall be redressed here?
