And? Surely you don't think that The Bible fell down from heaven to be left at the mercy of the interpretation of every individual believer, right?
No, but close --- it's translation was superintended by God in 1607-1611.

In other words, God ran QA (Quality Assurance) according to Psalm 12:6-7.

This is a perfect example of the insanity of the private interpretation of The Bible.

Either God gave us a perfect revelation or he didn't, there is no need for "Quality Assurance" because God is incapable of erring.

If we are to follow your own logic, we should accept as "Quality Assurance" Islam, because it intended to correct the errors that had crept into Christianity.

For the last time the psalm doesn't support the KJV in the sightest.
It supports God's assertion that He will preserve and purify His words "forever". If a purified translation shows up, I have to assume He did it, and not just a handful of translators.

The saying of the Lord are pure, and only HIM can fulfill them, this has nothing todo with purifying!

Simply in the context of that Psalm He promises He does, for He promised David salvation and the throne. That is what David got!

Now stop, this has nothing at all todo with translations of the bible.

As I mentioned before, it prevents private interpretation by allowing an independent third party to evaluate what was said. Whether that third party is the ACLU, the Christian Church, or my neighbor. A good dictionary makes a good third party.

Either God gave us a perfect revelation or he didn't, there is no need for "Quality Assurance" because God is incapable of erring.
He did give us perfect inspiration --- followed by perfect translation.

If we are to follow your own logic, we should accept as "Quality Assurance" Islam, because it intended to correct the errors that had crept into Christianity.
No --- for two reasons:
  • 1. No errors are being corrected from one translation to another.
Rather, one translation is made more readable than the previous.
  • 2. Islam is not the word of Jehovah, it is the word of Muhammad.

Says who? You? Any of the other translations can claim the same. Does that make it so?

I am God, personified in the CF character, TheBear. You know this because it is written. It is written for all ages. [And so it was.]

In other words, God ran QA (Quality Assurance) according to Psalm 12:6-7.
So, God could only keep up with QA until 1611. After that, He could not keep up with all the emerging languages, dialects and cultures. So, He gave up, (which is a broken promise, with all that 'forever' talk).

Dawiyd, what do you have against God giving us His Word in English? After all, I'd like to know what He said just as much as the next guy.

And too, I'd kinda like to think He's still on the throne, making sure His Word is available to me. Is there a problem with that, or do the Hebrews just have a monopoly on His Words?

Wait you were telling me your English version trumps the Hebrew, so KJV'ers have a monoply on the words, look at your signature, thats you clearly stating you have a monopoly on the words.

Simply, I don't like you twisting Jewish scripture to suit your own needs.

No --- if it was that easy --- Dell Comics would be printing the Bible.

I am God, personified in the CF character, TheBear. You know this because it is written. It is written for all ages. [And so it was.]
That's real cute. Now let's see you oversee the writing of 66 books by 40 different authors on 3 different continents --- with complete harmony.

So, God could only keep up with QA until 1611. After that, He could not keep up with all the emerging languages, dialects and cultures. So, He gave up, (which is a broken promise, with all that 'forever' talk).
If the time comes --- and I don't think it will --- He will give us another perfect translation. Until then, how about you help out with translating the AV1611 in one of those dialects? Okay. (Or at least help finance one?)

Wait a minute. What am I doing?

There was already one thread split to GA. Let's not give the mods more work to do. The discussion of translations is ongoing in another thread, in GA. This is the science forum, not a forum to discuss translations.

My apologies to the OP. :sorry:

As I said before the last split: all I'm doing is answering questions --- others are determing the direction.

Either that, or you're steering the discussion.

Either way, enough already. Discuss it in the appropriate thread.

This is the OP -

The "Goddidit" principle behind Creationism has been argued by many to be a cop-out, an easy answer for the person who doesn't want to ask questions or learn.

Examples often picked up are:

The reversal:
Understander of Evolution: "Evolution is science, Creationism is a belief."
Creationist: "Evolution is a belief"

The disparity of evidence required:
Creationist: Give me one bit of evidence for ToE.
Understander of Evolution: look at this fossil.
Creationist: That fossil's missing a toe bone. Therefore YEC must be correct.

Inability or unwillingness to understand importance of empirical evidence:
Understander of Evolution: Here is empirical evidence for evolution. You cannot provide empirical evidence for YEC because there isn't any.
Creationist: Here is subjective proof of YEC.

Repeated inaccuracy (away from this forum aka the Lie)
Creationist: Look at Y, that is evidence for YEC.
Understander of Evolution: That is false because X
Long pause
Creationist: Look at Y, that is evidence for YEC.

Mostly the arguments of Creationists are things they repeat knowing them to be untrue, or glib phrases, and semantics.

This takes very little effort, and no great amount of thought or study to learn and it neatly fits in with another general theme running through many Creationists which is a dislike of education ranging from smug philistinism to outright hostility.

I suppose to many it seems like stating the obvious to say most Creationists have reached their conclusions based on "very little effort, and no great amount of thought or study" but what I want to know is why any Creationist can believe this aversion to education is what their God wants, unless they live happily in a self-delusional paradox having shaped the religion into something that can best fit their own natural aversion to the rigours of learning and any other prejudices and flaws they wish to maintain.

So I guess I want to know what people think: Is Creationism just lazy man's science?
Stay on topic.

NO, NO, NO

""...followed by perfect translation." = Psalm 12:7"

7. The sayings of the Lord are pure sayings, like silver refined, exposed to the earth, clarified sevenfold.

Now stop distorting Jewish scripture.

I disagree with you saying G-d gave it to you in English with no proof G-d gave it to you, I also object with you saying the neglish KJV vetos the Hebrew Tanakh.

I also object to you in general.
