The existence of God is not an issue in this forum. Some of us believe in God, some do not. It has nothing to do with the theory of evolution.

It is not really complex. It's a patch of cells that reacted to light. It wouldn't have given the animal stereoscopic colour 20/20 vision, it would have just been able to see where light was and where light wasn't. Not hard.
It is a good thing most humans were born with 20/20 vision. It was a requirement for our advancement!

Except that human eyesight is incredibly weak in comparison to other mammals such as all species of cats, all species of dogs (barring a few of the 'pedigree' breeds) and almost all birds.
We are more adept at seeing fine details over other animals, but we are hopelessly outmatched in other respects.

Answer my question.

Fine, old guy. The earliest eyes would have been simple photosenstive cells with the abilities I clearly stated in post #37. We see such eyes in basic animals such as jellyfish and flatworms, which are the sorts of eyes that would have been found on the earliest of organisms.

Understand?

That has nothing to do with eyesight. That's mental capacity, not visual acuity. Your comment is a red herring.

I'm reasonably sure that each of the agnostics and atheists who are regulars on this forum are well aware of Pascal's wager. I reject it utterly for two reasons:
  • I do not need to believe in God in order to behave, to the best of my abilities, in a decent manner. And to "seek to believe in God" on the off-chance it might lead to eternal life seems downright cynical and dishonest.
  • I see zero significant reason to pick the Christian God out of the many gods said to exist by other religions.

If E = mc2 then we can divide and conclude that...

Mass (m) = Plasma (E/c2)

1. Mass can change to plasma
2. Plasma can change to Mass

Which makes it eternal stuff! If you believe in evolution you can step back a little and picture mass changing to plasma to create what has been called the Big Bang. I have read the earth will likely be pulled back into the sun in which everything will be burned up by plasma energy - Earth Is Spiraling Away From The Sun For Now, But Will Eventually Crash Into It.

The plasma energy will likely turn back into the mass in which it will be forms floating in the darkness of the universe. But....

1. Will it return to the plasma energy and become another sun one day?
2. How many times in eternity has the mass changed to plasma and the plasma returned to mass?

Continued interests in the E/c2...

Natural E/c2 - All mass is basically cooled plasma, the sun is the visible form of E/c2
Mental E/c2 - Our thinking can produce creativeness, light, and good things
Spiritual E/c2 - E (motivation, warmth, love) / c2 (faith, hope, charity, joy)

The Natural E/c2 in the form of mass produces a gravity that attracts other objects
The Intellectual E/c2 produces a gravity that draws us to study
The Spiritual E/c2 also has a gravity that draws and makes religion attractive

I believe the Christian God has triumphed because of the promise of the spiritual E/c2.

Oddly enough, the squid and octopus have evolved eyes that are structurally almost identical, and the mantis shrimp has eyes that are, in many ways, far superior...

"Just came out of the dust that way?" No, evolved that way.

When it's clear that you understand neither the mass to energy relationship nor what plasma is, you'd be wiser not to recruit them to your unscientific arguments.

The geometry of the eye is such that everything must be constructed with precision for the reality of eyesight. Which lens must be perfectly developed for 20/20 vision or better. I would call such a feat intellectual design!

Just consider the survival advantage of better eyesight than your competitors and predators. 20/20 vision was originally defined as the average healthy vision, so has no special meaning in terms of visual acuity.

If that is intended as a logical, adult reply to my post you missed by a very considerable distance. Please stop spamming your E/c2 nonsense, or I'm done with you.
