Ah...the old chestnut again.

For what it's worth, I voted NO, but I'm not gonna get drawn into the debate this time.

Spent far far too many hours on this one, and made no progress whatsoever.

All the best to both sides of the divide, but this will run and run and run.

And in the end you'll all still have to agree to disagree.

"On the seventh day, God rested."

Next question.

When God created Adam...did He have to wait for him to grow up? No. He made Adam fully grown. Same with Eve (in an instant). If today's scientist's were to study him (Adam), the same day God created him, they would say he was approx. 30 years old using their "dating" methods and thier "understanding" of the human body. But guess what? Adam would be less than a day old in "actuality".

God could have made the world 'ready' for Adam and Eve. To say He didn't would be denying this altogether.

No, I believe that the creation story is primarily an allegory and that God actually used natural scientific means to create the universe and all that is in it.

There should be an I don't know option.
I have seen many people get worked up over theistic evolution versus a literal 6 day creation.
I tend to lean toward a literal 6 day because of the Bible, but regardless the time frame, God did it.

If God said it.. I believe it...Why was Genisis so specific saying day /night and moon/sun ans another day..Why doubt it..We are blessed to believe without seeing. He said to enter His kindom we must be reborn. He also said to come a a child. We're not to analyze everything our finite mind doesn't understand, just trust Him.The whole purpose of the scripture is to show us Christ, not to pick at every jot and tittle to see if it's scientifically provable. Just believe..pax...kim

Jeremiah 17:5 (NIV) This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD."

1 Corinthians 1:18-19 (NIV) "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1,2

It is a life of FAITH, not of intellect and reason, but a life of knowing Who makes us "go." Oswald Chambers- Quotes From "My Utmost For His Highest"(p 79)

Faith recognizes the fact that God is in control of my life. Whether I believe it or not, it's a fact that God is in control of the world. If I don't believe it, I"m just robbing myself of the enjoyment of the fact. Paul Little

"Faith never means gullibility. The man who believes everything is as far from God as the man who refuses to believe anything." The Root of the Righteous, 120. Faith (A.W. Tozer)

With all due respect, you've put the cart before the horse. The first question to ask is whether or not the Bible actually says six "literal 24 hour periods as we understand them". I contend that it does NOT say this.

For the first three days, "there was evening and there was morning"...WE define evening and morning by sunset and sunrise. But there was NO SUN for the first three days, so "evening and morning" for the first three days ABSOLUTELY CANNOT mean what we typically understand as "evening and morning". Therefore, while eveything that God said was (and is) most assuredly true, it does not necessarily line up with what our understanding is.

Reading into the description of the first three days our "physical" understanding of "morning and evening" is an outright abuse of Scripture, and frankly, is calling God a liar.
