If I picked the creed the forums use to verify one is christian, I would.

Whose verification are you looking for? The forum's, or God's?

Dp you think folks should agree that Jesus created all things and then turn around and say He did that by having man born out of some animal womb?

Who am I to tell them what they should believe as Christians? Last time I checked, I'm not God.

Just curious anyone know how to take off the 'christian' in my profile? No longer wish that identification here.

You'll have to talk to a mod about that -- I believe they have to do it for you.

We are actually not supposed to pray repetitiously or mindlessly. Praying a creed is essentially doing that.

I don't pray a creed. It's an affirmation of my faith. If you don't think that's important, then I guess I don't think praying a sinner's prayer is important either.

The creeds make no mention of how God created the world, just that he did.

This is a quote from a Lutheran website.

"After hearing the word of God read and proclaimed, the worshiper responds with his confession of faith in the words of the Nicene Creed. It is customary for the Nicene Creed to be spoken when Holy Communion is celebrated and on major festival."

Source:
The Lutheran Liturgy - It's Biblical Roots

This is a part of the worship of the believer is to mindlessly recite the Nicene Creed. If you do not think it is mindless, then ask the people after church of how they felt when they recited the Nicene Creed and what it meant to them when they said it.

What kind of a crummy church is that? We study it carefully and learn what it means as part of the process of Adult Confirmation.

I am honestly not interested in debating this. I am more for preaching against Eternal Security.

The quote that you provided doesn't say that they do so "mindlessly". So why should we be in the position of interviewing people we don't know to prove that a quality ("mindlessness") you attributed to this practice is in fact absent?

OK thanks.

Of course, if you were to remove that, you might, in the interest of honesty, also have to take down your "undefeated" motto as well...

No. I am truly undefeated. No kidding. If I chose not to be identified with a group calling themselves christians, that is cool. The only place I recall the word Christian in the bible is when others "called" believers that! I might prefer some other more biblical word like believer, or brethren. What word I decide to associate myself with on some forum does not change the fact that I am a born again bible believing, creation believing child of God.

When I see leaders of churches declare they believe in evolution, I am eager to totally disassociate myself from them and those who believe them.

If they call themselves tomato, I don't want to be called a tomato. If they call themselves beasts I don't want to be called a beast. If they call themselves christians, I do not want to be called a christian.

I don't think there is any term where you'll be safe in the regard you mention. You'll find those calling themselves believer, that don't actually believe Gods word.

I'm with you on your point, but I'll stick with Christian, and let God sort it all out in the end. Christian means Christ like, best I can tell. To be Christ like would in reality be to believe in the word of God, so I'd dare say you have the true right to associate yourself with him, as you make it mean something to be a Christian. Let those who don't believe in the bible change their name, or maybe God will take care of that for them...all in good time. :)

The issue is that they are listed as christian on some forums. That means no one can expose them, or face penalties for so doing.

I know... all too well. ;)

Isn't always pretty to those who tend to deny it, but when we speak Gods truth, unfair penalty for doing so, has much less of a sting, if any.

Right, so I figure it makes no sense to use 'christian' as a measure of what people say or believe on a forum. Rather than say 'you are not really a christian, I might say something like, 'I don't give a rat's petard about 'christian', the issue is Scripture.

Oh, I get your point, and to each their own...guess I was just making a point as well. At least you're aware of, and teach the truth, and as you indicate, that's the main thing.
