He came up with the well know often said '6 thousand years' but people quoting this time frame often don't know who they are quoting or how or why that time frame came to be. Worse is he gave creation a date which is a hugely arrogant thing to do and in my view completely discredits him.
Ussher decided that God created the world, he said in a 1658 chronology titled The Annals of the World, on October 23, 4004 BCE.
I think other creationists would do well to study who came up with this time frame and decide if Ussher is someone they want to identify with. I don't.

I think sometimes we treat the Bible that way. We should spend more time doing what it says and less time figuring out what the Greek and Hebrew words mean.
