Thank you for agreeing with me, that no one is born a MURDERER.
No one is born a Pedophile, Rapist, Tax Fraud, Jay-Walker...ect..
And no one has ever and will ever be born a homosexual. Thanx.
SOLA SCRIPTURA.
You didn't read my post, did you? Well. Please read this one then.
I agree that no-one is born a murderer or a rapist or anything like that. Those (murderers, rapists, whatever) need to have committed a certain action to become *insert label*. But...
They can still have an innate predisposition to the aforementioned actions.
Let's take homosexuals as they are the center of attention here. Homosexuals need no action to be homosexuals. They just need a sexual attraction to the same sex. They need for their brains to tell them to get sexually excited at the sight of members of their own sex as opposed to members of the opposite sex. That's all it takes. My point was, this can be innate. The actions related to it cannot be of course. But this brain chemistry - call it unnatural or wrong if you like - CAN be innate. It doesn't always have to though. We can alter it as we lead our lives. Others can influence it too. Through socialization we are molded into new people, as far as ideas, ethical standpoints and behavior patterns go. But it CAN be innate. Among other reasons the reasons I mentioned in my last post.
When such brain chemistry is innate, and the person in question has a predisposition to a certain act. Like for example being artistic. Or being homosexual. Or a psychopath. Or mellow. Or hyperactive. Or to have ADHD...
While it often is possible to alter the brain chemistry through reprogramming, hypnotherapy, drugs, socialization, diet and exercise to mention a few things this does not mean it is neither easy nor that it is
always possible.
And it certainly doesn't mean we should just kill people who have this or that deviance from the norm simply because that deviance - which they often (innate or not) have no control over. Yes, I agree that sexual intercourse is always a choice. No matter your predisposition. But the attraction is not always a choice. In fact, it usually isn't. Not a conscious one anyway.
As for homosexuality, yes I think it is unnatural and wrong. BUT I do NOT think they should be bullied, excluded, discriminated against or killed for being homosexuals. In fact I think that we should be their friends and even helpers. Like Jesus was. He didn't stay away from sinners or judge or kill them for their sins. He was there to help them. To care for them and show them that they can change and are worth something despite their issues. And this, Shield, is one of the big differences between you and me. I would seek to do as Jesus did. And be their friend. I would seek to not condemn but welcome them.
You would seek to kill them.
