I work in a missions agency. Today I heard a story about death penalty from Africa. A young Zulu man had committed murder. He knew it held the death penalty, and ran for his life. The man was very afraid to die, and for a while he eluded the police. He ran to his brother who was not afraid of death, He had accepted Christ. The Christian man told his brother "Let's switch clothes and roles. When the police comes, they will arrest me in your place". They did, and the Christian and innocent Zulu man was arrested. He was tried and sentenced to death.
As he sat in his cell waiting to die he wrote his brother saying "I do this because I love you so very much. And I hope that as I die in your place, you can live in mine"
Hence a guilty man was free, and an innocent man was put to death for the crimes of another.

THAT is how we as Christians are called to be. THAT is what we're supposed to be like. To give our lives for others, especially for those who may deserve it the least, but need it the most.
You would have had him killed. How antithetical is that to what Christ did? To what this man did for his brother?

Well, you can't hang everyone at once, Shield -- you're going to have so many sinners deserving of death, there's going to be an awful backlog.
