How did this "controversy" start?
How should I know? You do realize I didn't write the CBS news story or any other news story about it don't you? Rather than going after me, discuss the topic. As if I personally don't have anything to do with it, which I don't.

What I have read and heard is costumers are calling it woke. It's losing business because the customers think it's gone woke. Adding it to the 'go woke go broke' trend. If you insist on exploring my personal feelings about it, I've never been anywhere near one. I'm only in the position of exploring why others have a problem with it. Since I've never been in a Cracker Barrel, on a personal level I couldn't care less about changes I've never experienced.
Fair enough. Woke is over used and now just means “I don’t like it” as far as I’m concerned. I’m sure they’ll lose some customers but not updating also risks stagnation and decline as loyal customers die off.

I admit I have never been in one. It doesn’t appeal to me to dine in a cluttered country store motif with a country diner menu. No loss or gain to me either way.

Asking how a controversy started is hardly about you.

Move along.

Ok, then these customers have been wound up to be hair triggered over every microscopic imagined "threat" to their precious culture.

I've not been in one yet. So, I went looking for an unbiased video review..

Wow! An unbiased review was waaaaay harder to find than I thought.

But, this is as close as I could come. Seems to be from what would be "core customers". Their verdict.. some stuff they liked, some they didn't. Added bonus for the return of cornbread to the menu. Here ya go.. the best full walkthrough, store, dining area, food, etc I could find that was honest..

Okay, to 'the modern generation' ...
Looks like Cracker Barrel has become your restaurant now!

I've been to CB sooooo many countless times over the decades ...
It's been hugely big with folks who love things old, antique ... farmhouse style.
Very rare was it, that you could go into one of these restaurants and not have to wait in line for a table!
Food is good ... but it's the atmosphere that folks liked. Real 'down home', country-like, if you know what that means.
Was fun to sit there with others and discuss the antique memories on the walls, while waiting for your food to arrive.

Yep, I know, what I'm saying is all very 'old fashioned'. But that's what folks liked about the place.
It was 'old fashioned'.

Not just old folks ... seniors ... ate at CB. Lots of church folk loved it, too!
Folks brought their families to the place, because there was a 'homey', wholesome 'family feeling' there.

Changing the logo doesn't bother me so much, but changing the interior was a HUGE change. I've seen the photos ... ugh! Unless a whole new type of clientele begins to frequent this restaurant, I suspect they'll be out of business as 'Cracker Barrel' in a few years.

And I'm not here to debate. Just thought I'd toss in my opinion, as a former very regular CB customer.
I do represent alot of folks who use to love the place, the way it was.

Oh well, "another one bites the dust".
Was nice, while it lasted ...

Maybe they just don't like it.

If they "just didnt like it" they wouldnt be going on and on about "woke" as if the redesign is part of some sinister agenda to sideline their whole culture.

Yep.

I don't know what kind of society we are becoming, that we all are expected to forget the past, and accept and like whatever is the latest craze.

So many loved this restaurant the way that it was. Call them all old-fashioned ... outdated ... whatever. But plain and simple? Folks loved it ... the way it was. (Go figure?)

What if the Hard Rock Cafe removed rock memorabilia and customers left? Many of those customers might take that as “woke” but would they be wrong for their disapproval?

Slow day at the outrage mill.
This is serious. The next thing you know, they'll get rid of this guy:

Cracker Barrel loses almost $100 million in value as stock plunges after new logo release.

Cracker Barrel shed almost $100 million in market value Thursday after its stock plunged following the release of a new logo. The new design eliminates a longstanding drawing of an overall-clad man leaning against a barrel, in favor of a cleaner logo featuring just the chain's name.

This is another go woke go broke situation. Where the CEO wants to change the company's image. Apparently not having any appreciation for who her customers are. What the main demographic is.

Oh well. There are bigger fish to fry.

Haven’t ate there in several years. Might go if I choose.

I had their blueberry pancakes and enjoyed their shop. It was neat.

I like to keep things simple.

Don’t like a restaurant? Don’t eat there, but don’t tell others they cannot. Also applies to Chick Fil A et al.

(I’m not referring to you, just in general)

Eh?
