  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My dad's fiancee told me today that her cousin, who is a nurse, went to get a mandatory Covid test. She had to leave to go back to her station before the test was done. She received a positive notice before she could reschedule. I'm not suggesting that there is conspiracy. I'm just concerned that our medical system is losing effectiveness with all of this. A family friend has been seeing the doctor for some time with a heart condition diagnosis. Finally they told him that he had cancer. He reposed within the week.

Is the Covid issue just highlighting errors or do you guys think this is a decrease in effectiveness?

Probably mostly just highlighting errors. Errors are probably quite common, in part due to the culture as a whole. I think people are more mistake prone in this generation.

not sure what you are asking. I can say for where I am the COVID tests have been effective and folks have gotten the help they needed.

Just seems that we are hearing about more medical errors and sloppiness in general. I'm asking if you guys think it's because we are noticing more because we are, as a society, hearing about healthcare more often or if there is a decline in the quality of healthcare lately.

The Covid story was just an example.

My employer has had two positive cases, one early, in late march. His only symptoms were loss of smell/taste. He's officially recovered but the senses have not returned.
The second case was more severe, cold-like but he has also recovered. We have 25 employees in the company.

Some of my son's coworkers had to be tested recently. Those tests came back negative, the one person that was showing symptoms had the flu, not COVID.

My daughter is a manager in a fast-food restaurant, the franchisee has five stores. The five stores are all along a single corridor that runs from downtown, out into the suburb, with the fifth store just across the county line (about 20 miles). They have had three deaths due to COVID-19. All three were relatively healthy, no major underlying issues, but over 40 years old. There's been about five or six other positives but they have recovered.

Several businesses in our community have been forced to close due to being local 'hot spots'. The Kroger that's "ours", about a mile from our house has been forced to close a second time and is currently closed for deep cleaning. They had nine positive cases last week.

It is very noticeable in every industry. We've come to a point where we are still 'building' up our technologies, but haven't noticed that we didn't pay attention to making the foundations of those technologies solid. The government spends hundreds of millions of dollars on software that doesn't work with the intention of building 'tomorrow' from it.

The state I live in plans on hooking up self-driving cars to a database that isn't even stable and was implemented without a strategy.

This is the consequence of star-trek dreams that have long ago departed from any sense of reality.

I cant speak to that aspect. My wife's doctors have been consistent, just a host of extra precauttions and protocols.
I've not been to a doctor in 15 years. I can't afford my wife and I both.

The same thing happened in my town, some people were in line for a car covid test and found out it would be an hour wait so they got out of line and received a positive result in the mail three days later without a test.

Low midiclorion counts are a key marker. Spice melange and a garlic wreath around the neck will get rid of it and lower Kavorka status.

It's hard to know exactly what is going on there with the data collection in the queue and reliability of the narrators. It is hard to speculate. One thing that could happen in say a driveup thing, noting that I am ignorant of what exactly goes on at these queues, is that they have the list of cars in the queue (CAR 1, CAR 2, ..., CAR 100,...) and look them up by license plate to save time and then they get (RESULT 1, RESULT 2, ..., RESULT 100, ...) but for whatever reason they don't track perfectly that some cars left the queue and things get all messed up. A similar thing can happen if there's an in-person queue instead of a driving queue. Record keeping is hard!

Hmmmm, makes me wonder if my positive test result was real...

I did lose smell and taste, so most likely real.
