  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Thanks all! :)

Michael, no, I live away from home at a dorm now and no churches are around. But I plan to go in 2 weeks when I school is out. :) Plus, not gonna lie, this weekend is Spring Fling, where everyone gets wasted all weekend on campus and the faculty and security look the other way. :p

Monica, yes, it's been awhile since I've cried. It was nice to let it all out. One of my biggest fears in life (that I have noticed already happening to me) is that I become hardened through the trials of life and getting older, and I can't cry.

Speaking of the typical Pascha sermon, I cried a lot during it. It fit me so well, and when I was Orthodox initially it wasn't something I could really understand or relate to as opposed to now.

Please go back in 2 weeks.

The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. All sins are forgivable by confession. Further, the way to repent of removing yourself from the Church is through confession. I revert back to the Prayer of St. Ephraim.

All sins are forgivable by confession AND absolution. You can even go to confession even if you're not Orthodox but you cannot recieve absolution. Or you can have a priest elsewhere who is your Father confessor but your parish priest gives you absolution (they are generally in contact obviously).

What everybody else said.
It's great that you went Justin. It's not OK to fall down, but the whole point of repentance is to get up again and determine to struggle not to fall. The struggle is to get up every time you fall down, so definitely, keep going back.

God bless and have a blessed Paschal season!

Well, went to Pascha! The whole nearly 4 hour thing. Received communion and celebrated with everyone afterwards. It was nice, people had missed me.

If you go to confession and the priest gives you absolution you can recieve it says no where in the canons that you cannot. Actually one of the prayers point to the 'release" of all "bound of a priest" (curse of a priest too) that would mean that if a priest has excommunicate you the prayer of absolution read in the end of confession overturns anything bounding you before. The whole sacrament is to 'review' your baptismal vow.

Justin I am very happy you went to Paschal service. Glory to God.!! keep it up brother!! For the gates of heaven are opened to you.... We may stumble and fall but what is important is to stay in the fight like St. Paul urges!!

Try to surround yourself with people who build you up rather than the ones who suggest reckless and irresposnible living. It is important you do that if you know EO kids stick with them and join the OCF I am sure you have in your campus.
