  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm a relative newcomer to jazz, but Miles Davis is near the top of my list of favorite jazz musicians. Kind of Blue is rightly considered to be one of, if not the greatest jazz albums of all time.

Oh yeah, I totally agree. I only have about 10 jazz albums, but Kind of Blue is easily at the top of the list. It's just so sublime and beautiful. While I'm a bigger fan of rock music than jazz, I think I've probably listened to KOB more than any other album in my collection. Radiohead's OK Computer is the only other that even comes close.

If we are talking trumpets what about Louis Armstrong, C'est Si Bon, We Have alll the time in the world, Stormy Weather, and Blueberry hill are brilliant.

Chet Baker is good on the trumpet and a pretty good voice although more swingish.

I am a big Miles Davis fan too. Kind of Blue never seems to grow old.
