  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I like to do anything that involves less than 10 ingredients and no more than 5 steps.

This is one of my favorite easy meals to make (except mine is vegetarian instead of chicken)

As a teen, I worked as a waitress in a restaurant that made a Chicken Garlic Bread soup that was am.az.ing. I would love to recreate that. It looks something like this:

This looks delicious! And you're scoring brownie points with making it 'vegetarian'. :eheh:

I love to cook. I've been cooking since I was a kid. However, I'm not crazy about baking, which I've stated before...but I like I making muffins. Go fig. Cooking for me so relaxing, it's almost therapeutic to me.

I love making anything that involves sauteing. I don't know, I suppose I find it fun or something.

Something I need to learn to make is meat. Anything from grilled chicken to meatloaf. I'm not completely clueless about it, but I also have zero experience in preparing and cooking meat, sooo...that's definitely something I need to learn.

One more thing I would love to do: homemade peanut butter. I eat the Smucker's Natural PB right now and love it but I know that it isn't as "natural" as it could be if I made me own. My grandpa last weekend was telling me how back in his childhood they just went to the butcher who used to sell peanut butter that was always fresh. It sounds like something I want to try.

It sounds super easy to do, it just involves investing in a food processor so I may try to find a friend who has one and will let me borrow it. I don't like putting money into kitchen stuff lol

Why do you need to learn to prepare meat? I thought you were a vegetarian for life?

I would like to have the security of knowing I can cook it when and if I'm put in a situation where I need to make it or help someone make it. Lol...I guess it's a feeling only people who enjoy cooking feel. :sorry: I think it's necessary to know how to cook meat. And plus, should I marry one day, chances are my husband will be a meat eater, and I certainly will want to know how to cook meat for his meals. I don't know, I'd feel a bit selfish purposely not learning just because I don't eat it, thus making him cook his own meat for dinner. :D

I make an awesome pumpkin cake / brownie type thing.

Ironically I learned how to make it in swimming class at my first college. Yup, swimming class. I don't remember a thing about swimming, but I needed a physical education class so I took it. Me and 6 girls. The last day, the female teacher brought in the pumpkin cake to celebrate, and so I asked her for the recipe.

It's good stuff.

I'm great with breakfast stuff, especially eggs. I make the best omelets, scrambles, etc.

My dad was an AMAZING cook and my sister seems to have gotten that part of his genes because I struggle to cook most things that require cooking. I think I told the story to someone on here how I couldn't even boil rice :D

My friend Steve and I went to a hibachi type place where they cooked in front of us and so when I went home, I wanted to try and make the fried rice as it was the greatest fried rice in the world. So I took the rice, threw it in the pan and fried it with egg and soy sauce. I knew my friend was coming over, so I tasted it and said when he got there, "I'm not sure what's wrong with this rice. It's crunchy."

"Did you cook the rice?" he asked.
"Yeah, I fried it just like I saw them do it."
"No, did you boil the rice before you fried it?"
"Ohhhh, you have to boil the rice??" :o

Yeah, not too bright I was. But now I make an awesome fried rice. I learn through mistakes.

I make a pretty good cheesecake, though I can't claim the recipe as my own. I impressed my wife and an ex-girlfriend with a sauteed tilapia, cooked in white wine with baby spinach, garlic, and cherry tomatoes. I came up with that one myself, and found it goes well if I serve it with Italian bread, with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip the bread in. I just don't like to go to great lengths to cook elaborate things for myself.

My ex gave me her recipe for something called peanut butter chicken. Sounds strange, but despite having peanut butter as one of the ingredients it's a sauce for chicken that also has garlic, soy sauce, and lemon and has a very oriental flavor to it. Put that on the chicken before grilling and grill some green onions with it, it's pretty darned good.

I love to take care of people and cook for them. Favorites? Baked chicken, with asparagus and potatoes rosemary. I like my stir fry dishes and casseroles. Baked salmon with jasmine rice and broccoli.

Keep taking care of people it's a win/win!

I'm a 75% vegetarian. I don't buy meat or keep any in my house and if I can, I avoid eating it but if someone is making me dinner, I will not be rude and turn it down. My mom and my grandma in particular seem to be very hurt if all I eat are veggies or bread so I attempt to be an "in the closet" vegetarian around them :D

But I grew up in a VERY carnivore centric family so the majority of the meals I used to cook involve meat. Its been interesting this past year trying to adapt all my recipes into non-meat stuff.

Truthfully, my grandma and my mom made sure that I am an excellent cook but my preferred method of cooking involves cereal and milk. I hate putting effort into food. So being a vegetarian was a natural transition since it involves very easy prep and not much time.

I find it weird that an increasingly large number of young women are no either vegetarian or vegan. I wonder what is driving these trends.

Most (NOT ALL) is probably cause they believe it to be "healthier", when humans have canines AND teeth for smashing we are omnivores. I don't care when people eat what they choose, but DON'T try and choose for me or condescend to me saying "its healthier" as if we were not ALL meant to have a mixed diet.

Sorry, people have the right to their own choice but those people make me want to go cannibal, kill them and eat them. Like the episode of "The Simpsons" where Lisa destroys Homers BBQ cause SHE wont eat meat and therefor no one else can either. I saw that episode and I got so ANGRY at her lines in that episode (Cause I have seen people act like that)

You like your carrots, fine, more animal flesh for me. Try and take that away........ I'm getting my meat from somewhere...its the cows and chickens, or you.. keep that in mind vegetarians. :p^_^

The other groups are simply those that follow trends, another group simply so they can lose weight and then the others simply...... like how things taste that grow out of the dirt.
