contentious threads

Have you ever noticed how the threads around here that have high view counts and replies are those in which we bicker and bitterly contest the contents? While threads of a wholesome nature that can edify and encourage languish. Do you want to see the true nature of each person here? Look at the contents and context of their threads. Do they seek followers by starting threads designed to attract views? Are you encouraging such nonsense by viewing such threads or even participating in them. Simple forum practice says if you ignore that rabble it will go away. Let's promote wholesome teaching. Let's speak in patience and love, not being bitter or divisive.

Titus 3:10-11 NLT

If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them. For people like that have turned away from the truth, and their own sins condemn them.

If we are going to see a change around here it starts with you (and me)... don't say someone else will do it, be the change and leader this forum needs to truly become the light of the CF community that "Spirit filled" people should be.

I think it's fair to say that others have debated, and were contentious. Some here even used to go on and on with a member who recently stopped posting, a member who really knew more than they guy argued with. So anyway, isn't this thread contentious? Is it doctrinal, or a sweet fellowship thread, or will it bring out the worst?

I have learned that others are not going to change, or more accurately, I can't change others. I can only change how I respond to it. It requires self control, which is a fruit of the Spirit, and God can change us, if we'll let Him.

There are going to be those people who continue to start contentious threads and promote strife. Those folks will not receive this admonition and some will even go so far as to justify it. We cannot stop that from happening. But we can change how we respond to it.

That is when this forum will experience a change, when more people are interested in discussing differences respectfully than those who are only interested in winning arguments and promoting strife.

That is your opinion. Honestly only God knows the truth to this statement. This thread may bring out some evil in people, it already has It wasn't meant that way. I actually started it with the hopes of effecting some change around here. Sadly, there is a minority here that dominates the front page of the forum with their "knowledge" and they refuse to let anyone else get a word in either way. Hopefully though, someone will find some encouragement (and they already have) and we can all band together to make this forum the blessing it truly can be.

And maybe niow many of you will know why a lot of people dont post a lot anymore. I grew tired of it and yes, it is the same it seems. Until the members rise up and shut down the contention it will not change. I cant change anyone so I just dont post much anymore, not only here but other sections as well. It is a shame that this was to be a safe haven to post for like kinded believers but it is clear that many are not like minded and that there are a lot of doctrinal differences on this forum And as years ago it is only a couple posters who make it difficult for others

Just sharing with the forum that a thread about contentious threads is a little suspect, particularly when the OP has participated in both of the threads that were what the majority of the contention is about.

The testimony is of your own making. Actions usually speak louder than words.

I made one statement about how we should avoid threads we disagree with so they go away... that is it to my knowledge. Hardly "contributing"

As for the other one recently started, I haven't even viewed it, nor will I.

My 2 oldest are autistic so I don't have so many verbal altercations. They are way more physical... don't know which I would prefer

I am not complaining about specific posts. Merely the concept people use contentious topics to draw views And the way to overcome the divide around here. Sorry if you want no part of the healing of the forum, but i do.
